My '23 2Dr Badlands has been at Town & Country Ford in Bessemer Alabama since November 13th. I dropped it off then to have the 2nd replacement top put on, but when they went to install it the locater pin and all mounting holes were in the wrong spots. The newest one that should have been installed today has the same issue. They tell me there is no distinction in the part numbers so all they can do is try again, but they cannot find any information that ford has made a change in the mounting design. This all seems strange to me. It looks like I will be without my Bronco for a min of a month and that's if we get lucky and the next one fits. I have a trip coming up Feb 14th weekend and will be really P.O'd at that point if it still has to sit there, Has anyone heard anything about a design change ?
Is Mitch still boasting about being 6'3"?

Yeah pictures would be nice.
But regardless, I think there’s only 3 possible scenarios

1. Dealer somehow ordered a 4dr top
2. Dealer ordered the correct top, Ford sent the wrong top.
3. Dealer is lying about it not fitting for some reason 🤔

Well they said the glass company installed the glass on the 1st one that the holes would not line up and they never got to that point on the latest one. Now you have me worried something else is going on :( I guess a trip to see my Bronco for myself is in order when I am off this Friday .

I've always considered the Bronco top bolt spacing a bit odd, meaning how the holes are not spaced more evenly as on a Jeep hardtop. But yeah to change the hole pattern, that would open a can of compatibility worms.

I'd just ask if they have some pictures to share first. Might save you a trip.

Certainly odd. All I know is there’s only one 2dr MIC top that’s available to order. So there’s no reason it shouldn’t fit unless it was made wrong or potentially damaged somehow

I would not be surprised to learn that Ford/dealer is sick of replacing MIC tops so they’re making it as painful as possible. Some folks are on their fourth replacement, for largely cosmetic issues. I’m still rocking a July ‘21 top.

@Rydfree I’m also confused why it’s been there since November. The tops are readily available and from what I can see there are 61 available at various PDCs

Doubt it. Why would dealers even care? It’s not like it’s even difficult to replace once they get one.

Sounds like your dealer is a bunch of clueless ......

I'd assume that they have other 2dr Broncos on the lot. My dealer has a ton of inventory currently. Seems like they could easily grab a top off of one of those and give you something to use. Especially if it is their !@#$ Up.

Especially if those Broncos have the Bum Bilstein shocks with the stop sale. That inventory isn't going anywhere. Let them park their inventory in the shop and get the customer taken care of.

M2DZ-98502G33-AA was replaced by M2DZ-98502G33-CC, but this was back on 11/15/22
It doesn't tell me what was changed, but I would be extremely surprised if the locator pin location was change... that means they would have to change the whole body i would guess.

If the headliner is now standard ( is it?) then I would guess the new part number reflects the headliner as part of the top. No way they changed the alignment holes/ tabs. Sheet metal would require a CNC change as well.

I don’t know if it’s standard or not, but I don’t think any tops come shipped with it pre-installed regardless. At least not that I’ve seen

Oh crap, I'm glad you spotted that typo. It has been there since January 13th. I was thinking about the 1st replacement I guess .

That thought crossed my mind also. The factory top had these cracks. I don't consider that as purely cosmetic. Once moisture intrudes into the cardboard honeycomb substrate it will fail. The replacement was cosmetic but who wants that on a 60k MSRP vehicle ?
