That thought crossed my mind also. The factory top had these cracks. I don't consider that as purely cosmetic. Once moisture intrudes into the cardboard honeycomb substrate it will fail. The replacement was cosmetic but who wants that on a 60k MSRP vehicle ?

That looks like $#!+... :(

Surely not!?!? If this is the reason the top is not fitting, whoever this person is that ordered the new top (twice) has a PhD in Incompetence!
Probably not, but you never know 🤷‍♂️ lol

I wonder if Ford would ever consider letting the customer get a painted modular top to replace a defective top instead of MIC and just pay the difference?

Knowing Ford, no that would never happen.

My bet is that they tried to install the top backwards. Likely impossible, but this is a dealership we are talking about.

I would not be surprised to learn that Ford/dealer is sick of replacing MIC tops so they’re making it as painful as possible. Some folks are on their fourth replacement, for largely cosmetic issues. I’m still rocking a July ‘21 top.
Not to start an argument. Just questioning why you consider it just cosmetic? A crack that shouldn’t be there will eventually cause more issues. My Work vehicle has cracked at a body panel body line crease. Now it’s rusting. Cracked tops will eventually look like a newspaper in your driveway left in the rain.

There’s nothing that suggests the cracks are more than a cosmetic issue right now. You can assume it’ll cause bigger issues in the future, and it may, but right now it doesn’t appear that way.

I'm wondering why anyone would not be concerned about a glaring cosmetic issue on a brand new vehicle. At this point I don't want a wavy, rippled, honeycombed top with or without the cracks.

This is the kind of question that would have overloaded the FoMoCo chat bot on B6G. 🤖

This is why we can’t have nice things here 🤣
