I’m certain it will after warranty period. Cracks in much more substantial materials like fiberglass or carbon fiber continue to worsen. I don’t see how the lesser hard top material won’t.
I guess we’ll see. Some people have had cracks for quite a while now with no other affects. I’d think we would’ve already seen some evidence of it already considering the material

@Ducati1098
what is Fords explanation for not covering the top?
I considered getting the extend warranty, partly because I'm concerned about the MIC top. I have seen the top is not covered here and there on the forum but no details as to why

cheers
People have had it covered under the factory bumper to bumper 3/36 warranty.

Nobody has had it covered under ESP. It’s just not something ESP covers.

hmmm
thanks for quick reply
its ford right to exclude anything from the esp - I just don't understand why they wont, aside from the possibility they don't feel confident financially standing behind the top beyond the 3 years

my spidy sense says the top is going to be an issue for Ford down the road sometime
I could be wrong but of all the flaws that we see / read on form, the top has been a big one
Once these tops get to be beyond 5 years old will see if they are still holding up, cracks or no cracks

save me some time searching - are the current MIC tops, the 25 body colour painted tops or shadow black or heritage white tops all the same supplier?

Typically body panels, or things like that, have never been covered by ESP, so it's really not too surprising.

I don't believe all the tops have the same supplier, but I'm not 100% sure who the supplier for the Mod top or the new painted top is.

My understanding was that Ford considers it a convertible top which are usually only covered within the basic 3/36. I could be wrong about that but if so it would be convenient for Ford to classify it as such.

im jumping in a little late - my 2023 Outbanks 2 door has the cracks. When they replace it, do they replace the glass? I just got mine tinted and would prefer not to do that again soo.

thx - will do some digging on supplier lists to see if I can find out who supplies the painted tops
sometimes we get info on suppliers to vehicles - bit of a crap shoot but will sniff around

On another note , I thought Ford would not let you keep and sell a top that was replaced ?

My '23 2Dr Badlands has been at Town & Country Ford in Bessemer Alabama since November January 13th. I dropped it off then to have the 2nd replacement top put on, but when they went to install it the locater pin and all mounting holes were in the wrong spots. The newest one that should have been installed today has the same issue. They tell me there is no distinction in the part numbers so all they can do is try again, but they cannot find any information that ford has made a change in the mounting design. This all seems strange to me. It looks like I will be without my Bronco for a min of a month and that's if we get lucky and the next one fits. I have a trip coming up Feb 14th weekend and will be really P.O'd at that point if it still has to sit there, Has anyone heard anything about a design change ?
I drove mine with the old top until the new top came in, did they send back your old top?

I’ve yet to encounter a Ford dealership that is truly competent & willing to actually help.

I’d call the GM to arrange a meeting with you, the tech, tech service manager and the GM. Have them show you everything.

Good luck, let us know how this works out

They had already swapped the glass over and started scrapping the old top before they realized the new one did not fit :(

It is my understanding that both the MIC top and the upcoming painted tops are both made by Webasto. The MIC top was a whole new design concept that got it's own development and manufacturing wing of the building. The painted tops are made on the side of the plant that was focused on the Jeep hardtops but they now have the capacity to make both since the Bronco carved into Jeep utilization.
