This is definitely to modernize the Super Duty. They're just giving themselves flexibility with the SUV inclusion.

Yeah, it looks to ,me as if it is for adapting electric power steering to SFA Super Duties. That way they can incorporate all the nifty, lane keeping, RSC etc into the SD

To further complicate production schedules and cause even more delays, Ford will be offering the Bronco in your choice of IFS or SFA. :)

Tell me at this point if this would honestly surprise any of you. LOL

Ford re-trademarked the Excursion name in April of 2020. With 8 lugs that’s not going on a Bronco size suv.

This might be to shut up the "Bronco can't rock crawl" argument.
it's probably for the V8 F-150 Raptor to support the heavier engine and higher torque

I am betting on a F250 or F350 EV. If they can get fleets into the Lightning platform, fleets like similar vehicles, like all diesel or all gas. It keeps things simple in the service bay. Especially if they are investing in chargers. I think there is a good chance of seeing a option for a SFA Bronco down the road but no time soon. Not before 2025.

How cool would a modular axle setup be.
I dont know why they abandoned the I beams. I loved how they drove 2wd or 4wd. I used to put an Econoline up on 2 wheels with em in High School. Cant believe I survived.

huge difference between a trademark and a patent. And a patent that actually says for SUV’s and off road vehicles and trucks. Time will tell...I remember I posted the GOAT modes patent on here originally and some people thought it was not for the current Bronco or maybe for a future electric vehicle...yet we have GOAT modes.

The one thing I can tell you is that electric steering can be engineered and programmed to make a solid axle 4x4 drive incredible on a highway and it allows the solid axle to be much less complicated to manufacture and incorporate. Drive by wire is coming

They have been using it in aircraft for decades.

I see many vehicles moving to drive by wire..good or bad. I tend to be a purist and like manual shifting and steering that is mainly controlled mechanically, although there have been a few non power steering vehicles that I had that I’m glad I don’t have anymore.

F250, Excursion or another F250 based SUV, F250 Tremor.
What if the Ford Excursion will be the name for the 4d Pickup version of the Bronco?
