Ford just posted this video to their YouTube account.

Caption: "Ford teams up with pro off-road racer Brad Lovell to test the Ford Bronco in Johnson Valley.*"

Press Release:

Updated with the official press release text accompanying this video:

DEARBORN, Mich., Jan. 10, 2020 – While enthusiastic customers await the return of the upcoming Ford Bronco 4x4, engineers are hard at work ensuring it is ready to take on the wild. In the high desert of California, Ford experts are busy testing and proving out the all-new Bronco’s powertrain and rugged chassis, which is based on the company’s fully boxed, body-on-frame global T6 architecture, in an experimental prototype vehicle.

In the Mojave Desert’s Johnson Valley, home to such punishing motorsports series as King of the Hammers, the Bronco prototype is being pushed to its limits off-road in grueling conditions crawling up rocks and racing across sand.

Bronco was built exactly for this.

The all-new sixth generation of America’s original “sports utility vehicle,” makes its world premiere this spring.

Looks like one of the chopped Ranger test mules. IFS and leafs in the back. Not sure we can glean anything new from this?

though many mis-statements are in the recent Car & Driver article, they do state:

"In a departure from Jeep's approach, Ford is envisioning the Bronco as more of a high-speed desert runner than a low-speed rock crawler"

Ford hasn't specifically said that I don't think (apart from the statements about desert racing being an important part of the Bronco's heritage), but there was a statement a while ago that they were doing something 'a little different' than Jeep or something to that effect.

Either way, good to see that the media train from Ford is getting started

I thought the Frankenrangers (and the one in the video) had coil sprung rear ends?

Nothing new but at least it means Ford is ready to open the floodgates. They have been super tight liipped but the next few months until the reveal will hopefully be lots more.
