So is this the reason they killed rev matching with the manual transmission? Seemed like one of the main perks for us manual owners

On the thread about reviews on the 2.3L tune several folks said their version when bought the last month or so doesn't come with it anymore. And then on Ford performance website they removed that from the details also. So looks like since June sometime.

It's still in the instructions from Ford Performance. I wonder if they tried to activate it according to the instructions. That's a really cool feature of it!

Working on confirming it through contacts that are more in-the-know, but yeah... my guess is it was probably a requirement to get through the CARB certification.

I know it was one of my main reasons for wanting the tune (along with allowing speedo calibration with larger tires). If they killed it officially I may have to see about just getting custom tune instead

I hope I can still get it with rev-matching somehow, otherwise I don't know if I want it!

So if I live in one of the 49 states the Ford dealer should be able to install with rev matching?

No, it's a single tune profile. The software has no way of knowing which state you are in.

Truthfully I did NOT believe it when someone reported a week or two ago that the rev matching was no longer available. I just assumed it was user error, as the EPA standards haven't changed recently as far as I know.

BUT... it's pretty suspicious that a Bronco owner would report this and then a couple weeks later it finally got its CARB certification to become 50-state legal. So I have a sneaking suspicion that by "EPA", they actually meant "CARB". Removing the rev matching feature may have been one of the things CARB mandated in order to get the sign-off.

i'm guessing it simplifies their accounting to only support one universal version for each engine.

or it could be because too many folks in california whined about not having the ProCal tune available (spoiling it for the rest of us)

There are different versions of the tune. They're only sending out one version from Ford currently, but since it is VIN locked there is a way Ford could be cool.

Can dealers roll back the tune if there are issues? It's basic software dev 101, but that doesn't mean car manufacturers' execs know diddly about all this crap they're stuffing into cars that isn't the car. A software rollback, revert to stable version, would be a way into getting an older, rev-matching tune on a Procal, right?

This is exactly what I'm afraid happened. They screw all us in order to be "CARB" compliant. This will indeed suck if they stick to this and it will 100% make me not purchase their tune since I can care less about CARB but do want rev match.
