Well there goes my backup plan.
Having yet another reservation as a backup plan, for an unfulfilled reservation, might not be the ticket. I'd select a vehicle that actually exists as a backup.

If manuals sold they would still be building vehicles with them. A modern automatic is superior in every way...and yes I can drive a manual, learned in a 1994 Z28 with a 6 speed.
Seems to me if you build an interesting vehicle, a manual transmission will sell in it.
Granted... Not at the levels of automatics, but that's mainly because most people today don't know how to drive.
(I'm intentionally leaving the work Manuals off the end of that last sentence, because I believe people to know how to drive manual transmissions are, in general, much better drivers.)

So I'm hoping the Ford decides to make the Ranger interesting and carry over the manual transmission from the Bronco, but not derate the towing to match the Bronco.

Unfortunately, if Bronco does a special package like the Splash, Ford will likely force you into a 4 door, automatic, high or lux package... just becau$e.

I hang onto vehicles a long time (sometimes too long lol), and personally have had bad luck with auto transmissions slipping shifts and needing rebuilds. Three of them, including our 1999 Ford escort slipping the 1-2 shift. And that Escort was treated well, I still have no idea why that trans went bad.

Conversely, all our manual trans vehicles had no issues even with mega miles. Although I think operator skill is a MUCH bigger issue with manual trans, and can severely impact wear and tear. You get someone grinding the gears and burning the clutch, and all bets are off.

Modern auto transmissions are so complicated and I cross the fingers nothing goes wrong, the fluid doesn't somehow overheat (why I use coolers in my off-road rigs), and knock on wood when I feel the auto trans do something odd.

I'm sure other people have had no issues with auto transmissions, but I got to go with what has worked well for myself and family. Maybe if I was unloading vehicles earlier in their lifecycles there would be no issue.

Had a neighbor growing up with this color in the mid 90's, thought these were so cool

Well I gave up on my Bronco, and got a cyber orange splash Ranger, not as awesome off road as a Bronco, but it's a better fit for me. Towing is up to 7500 lbs, but I wish they offered the 7spd manual trans from the Bronco, not a fan of automatics, but I must admit, it works well especially towing. I had it one week and hooked up, lol The color and striping works, reminds me of my Boss, matching pair.
