Do you think cracks in a $60k truck should be considered normal?

My guess, over time, they will all crack. FORD should extend a lifetime replacement warranty on these tops for the original purchaser. Mine is fine but if it cracks....I will probably bite the bullet and get one of the expensive aftermarket tops.
@Ford Motor Company should significantly improve the production technology and quality control for this resin-glazed paper nonsense called the MIC top. I bought my Bronco to enjoy it, but instead, I have to drive a boring loaner car while a defective hardtop is being replaced with another one that is not any better.

Get used to it. On my 4th top. Other than that it is one of the best vehicles I have owned. I hope Ford will make it right, I plan on keeping this one for a while.

I'm on my 3rd hardtop now. It has no cracks (yet) but has mismatched panels.

For me, the Bronco is one of the most fun cars, too. I love the concept, but the execution definitely needs to be improved.

I’m on my 4th top as well. Maybe #5 is the lucky number for us on #4 already.

It would make $$$ sense to Ford but they are to busy investing in Electric vehicles. Where is the Ford bot at?

My question is why can other vehicles have no problems on the tops.. Am I missing something? Oh lets cut costs in some areas... Makes no sense in the long run IMO!!!
If you asked me, you have an idiot dealer that doesn't read the GSB's and has decided to make the blanket statement "cracks aren't covered under warranty." Go somewhere else.

Ford knows there are problems with the tops but isn't doing anything about it. Unfortunately they are too deep with the product to make a change, so will continue to crank out the tops without changing a damn thing.

Agreed. Hopefully they will make good on these. Quality control has taken the back seat.

Uggg.. reading this thread is horrid. I now do not regret getting my soft top and going aftermarket for the hard top.

We all should be grateful that Ford didn't go with a thatched roof.

The thatch was probably the original plan for the hardtop core before some genius came up with the cardboard. Eco-friendly and all...

Ford bought into Webasto's marketing of themselves as an expert in composite honeycomb panel manufacturing. The idea probably sounded good, but the actual production turned out more difficult than anticipated, and the thin outer skin and bonding issues have been a concern.

My opinion, the hardtop outer skin is too thin and dependent on the underlying honeycomb and bonding for it's structure. But how do you change that when manufacturing is already up and running, probably not so easy?
