USA has these areas called urban, suburban, rural. Much of the rest of the world lacks the 'suburban' category; when you fly into many large european cities, you see agricultural ground adjacent to high-rise housing. Hence many walk, bus or scooter to work.

Drive across Chicago, Boston, Atlanta, or NYC (where many don't own a vehicle) and you'll quickly be convinced of the current 'relevance' of cars.
Car companies are on top of the trend all right. ... and milking it like no tomorrow. Apparently steel labeled "pickup truck" is worth a lot more.

good Lord. bet mustang numbers look like that too. frickin ridiculous. I bought a base model F-150 for 16.5k in 2002. now you need 30, pay certainly hasn't increased that much since then. damn 250s used to cost in the 20s, 40s for fully loaded. now you can option a 250 out for over 80.

I’ve never understood this argument. Vehicles honestly have not increased that much in price, it’s just that more expensive trims are more desireable and what people want nowadays. You can get a single cab, base model F-150 XL for $22k out the door, and it will be a way nicer and way more cape able vehicle than it was 20 years ago. Hell the F-250 is INSANELY cheap if you go with the base engine, they are in the low 30’s. Just stay away from the 4 doors and the higher trims and trucks are as cheap if not cheaper than they’ve ever been.

because you could get a base model F150 in 2002 for 12000 dollars that was just as capable of doing a job, even if not as comfortable.

Now I know I’m comparing MSRP here vs my example which is not but you were not getting an 02 F-150 for $12k

I suppose you can argue the comfort angle.....if you can put up with the "DEATH WOBBLE" that FoMoCo is currently NOT warrantying.

That’s true most people I know who live in or near San Francisco don’t even own a car and haven't for 10 years or ever
Only people I know of that don’t have a car in or around SF either are too young to own one, or are just complete oddballs.

yeah, you could. it wasn't hard. Im not saying lariat extended cab 4x4 with premium leather seats, but an XL 4.2L V6 w/ the 5spd and crank windows/manual locks? yeah. about 12k for those, especially in white.

the bottom end invoice price for 2002 F150 was 16k and change, you're not getting one for 20% below invoice price.

My out the door price on my 2002 sport was 16,500. I put 1500 down and financed 15k. That included TT&L which was around 2k iirc. That was April 2002 at a dealer in North Little Rock

The price averages most likely also include "fleet" sales, hence lowering price. The main thing is that over the last 30 years, passenger cars went up 22% and pickups 163% ... doesn't take a great mind to realize your getting scammed.

It's tough right now. Middle class keeps dwindling, millennials have massive debt already and buying a new car for most just isn't as feasible.

The biggest thing I'm concerned about is that this economic bubble we are ridding right now is suppose to pop again soon. I hope the economy stays a float while the Bronco finally has its debut.

I think Ford is doing the right thing with bringing the Bronco back. The Explorer market is saturated and its hard to stand out there. What Ford needs to focus on (and they are) is hybrid and electric. People need a reason to buy something new. Or at least the illusion depending on how you feel.

Someone get jersey onboard, as the traffic is insane.
