I'm a little hesitant to post this in case it becomes political, but did anyone else realize that FORscan was based in Russia?

Somehow I didn't notice until today they have a Russian forum right after the English one.

Noticed this a couple days ago when I was creating a Forscan registration and trying to get a license. I thought i wouldnt be able to get a license since they cant take payment but i was still able to get the free extended license 2 month trial.

I remembered this once upon a time, but only dawned on me again today when I went to buy an extended license...

Oh well.

How do you register? I have searched all over their website and cannot figure it out!

You have to have a hardware ID. Where do I find that on my device?
It doesn't come from the device itself, it comes from the Forscan program.

First register an account on the forum: https://forscan.org/forum/

Download the Forscan program: https://forscan.org/download.html

Request a free extended license: https://forscan.org/support/prepare_trial_el_request.php?lang=en

See the image below for where to find your hardware ID in Forscan (steering wheel icon at the bottom left)

After your license comes through via email, download the license and go back to the same screen in Forscan and load the license key from your downloaded license file.

After all that, you may still need to download drivers for whichever ODBII device you purchased. If you plug into your Bronco and your laptop and click "connect to vehicle" and no modules come up, download the drivers and try again.

The paid extended licenses don't seem to be working, but the 2 month trial still works

I was wondering if there are any good FORscan alternatives. Aside from not wanting to put money in the Russian economy at the present time, there's a pinned thread on the FORscan forum talking about how yes Windows 11 and myriad antivirus programs flag FORscan as a potential virus/trojan horse, but you really just need to disable your virus protection and OK your way through the warnings. Doesn't really give me a warm fuzzy feeling about installing it.

All of the alternatives seem to be more about reading and clearing error codes and viewing diagnostics.
