Why is Ford suddenly giving away the $500 sound deadening headliner?

I'm thinking it's either:
  • Making it an option was too complicated for the top manufacturer
Changes to the 2022 top mean the 2021 lines won’t fit and Ford has too many

mixed with a little bit of:
  • The Bronco cabin is really loud and they are trying to stay in front of it
So they figured they would:

This is very close to the correct answer, which is :

They are doing it in response to this thread:

The correct answer is NONE of the above.

The actual answer is:

1. Webasto did not fulfill some aspect of their contract.
2. Ford demanded compensation.
3. Webasto agreed to install the headliner at their factory for free instead of giving up revenue.
4. Ford believes this will help with customer satisfaction.

Win/Win/Win (Bronco Buyers/Ford/Webasto)

[*** Fine print: This is purely my speculation ***]
The real winner is the headliner manufacturer. Their sales to Ford likely went up 10 fold with this move.

It means "Noise, Vibration, Harshness." It is always best when one wants to clearly communicate in the written format to first spell out the words one wishes to abbreviate then follow the words with the abbreviation. Example: The man used a Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus (SCUBA) tank when he went underwater diving.

I learned something new! I always assumed scuba gear was sort of like xerox machine and referred to the originator of the concept.

And this is why one must always spell out the words first, then write the initials so clear communications can be made. In a dearth of knowledge, we all tend to impose our own limited knowledge to to an abbreviation that is not clearly spelled out. Sometimes to our detriment or frustration. Good example!

Imagine what the answer would look like if they were explaining string theory.
Why would they talk about snacking cheese?

It shows up roughly weekly.

It is always best when one wants to clearly communicate in the written format to first spell out the words one wishes to abbreviate then follow the words with the abbreviation. Example: The man used a Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus (SCUBA) tank when he went underwater diving. In this case, the abbreviation was structured as an acronym (a form of abbreviation that uses letters from the collection of words to create a new word.) Initials, such as "FBI" which stand for three words that stand in the place of the organization known as the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The initials are used as an abbreviation for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. "FBI" is not an acronym, they are initials because the letters cannot be pronounced as a word and are the initial letters of the three words in the organization's title. There are other forms of abbreviations such as contractions, for example; "SITREP." In this example, SITREP contracts two words, Situation and Report. It takes the first three letters of each word to express the same idea but contracts the syllables down to just two syllables instead of five, abbreviating the two words into one word. This example can also be described as an acronym.

Wow this sure is a pessimistic bunch. If you hate Ford why are you getting a Bronco?
Probably because like all manufacturers, they do stupid things. By not being a fan boy you remain objective. You can like Ford and criticize them at the same time. The person that cannot actually has the real problem.

This thread kind of reminds me of one time at work when they gave everybody $1000 check.
One guy bitched and moaned about all day it because he had to pay taxes on it.

Ford is not giving away $495 in free sound deadening. That is retail. They are giving about a tenth of that for actual costs and the poll is missing the correct answer. It was almost certainly a bottleneck in the production line, the added speed and additional units over time will mean more total profit than the cost to upgrade them all. It probably costs more to not add it for the MGV folks that want to go without. This is not altruistic, it is cost savings spun to be a bonus to the customer (like cramming an extra sardine in the tin, the oil displaced costs more than the extra fish)

I agree -- but there is a lot of wining and complaining over stupid stuff. I've been following Bronco since Oct when I made my reservation, and overall everything has been pretty smooth. Changes are to be expected, after all we are talking about a brand new vehicle type, not hamburgers.
