Can the front lower control arm be used as a jack point?
How about right under the shock mount?
Wanting to lift a front tire off the ground but not wanting to lift as much as the chassis rail "official" lift point requires.

I use front lca without issues I place my jack on the center of a shock bolt. Also kinda depends on what type of jack you are using to do it safety because you donā€™t want the jack to tip over after you have a lot of pressure on it.

Ford says not to Jack it by the control arms because of potential damage. Iā€™m sure they say this mainly from a liability standpoint, but just throwing it out there.

I can see their point for routine tire changing.
And I'm asking because I can see that the control arm is not ideal.
Thanks

I guess I missed this bit of information.
Itā€™s so good to have experts like this dude here! He knows a lot about most everything.šŸ˜‰

There isnā€™t a really good place to lift the front like the OP wants to doā€¦..it wonā€™t hurt a thing to lift at the lca but as mentioned, use a jack with a good baseā€¦..I use a floor jack

No problem man. Like I said just throwing the info out there, not saying people NEED to follow it. Iā€™d probably lift it by the LCA in a pinch too šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø Here it is just for reference.

I surveyed the front end geometry and looked for safe lifting points other than the frame. My hydraulic heavy duty floor jacks did not have enough travel to lift the front of my Sasquatch to change or rotate the tires. I had to get a pressure treated 2 X 4 and cut 2 pieces to 5.5" long for each side to fit on top of my floor jacks and the frame lifting point to be able to lift it. It's the highest point I have had to jack on any vehicle I have owned. My jacks have a lot of travel, too. I would not recommend any other way to lift the front.

I have a unijack. Are you using the scissor jack to get a bit more height? I tested the unijack in my driveway and was only able to get the tire about 1" off the ground but I figured if I used the scissor jack to lift the Bronco a couple of inches first then I'd be able to adjust the unijack's arm to get a couple inches more of lift

I use both factory and unijack at home also 2x6, 2x8 and 6x6 blocks if more height needed.
If under the vehicle, we have jackstands as well.

I had to add wood blocks to my scissor jack to get it lifted and bought new 6 ton jack stands because I had the same problem.
