After almost 3 years of owning my Badlands and countless mods, I have finally gotten around to completely ripping out the joke of a B&O system that Ford put into Broncos with the luxury package group. I'm still shocked that B&O allowed their name to be associated with the lowest quality factory speakers I've seen this side of my Toyota Pickup in 1989. I put in a few cheap fixes over the last year or two like the SSV works pods with Kickers and a cheap, for what you get, DS18 sub in place of the factory sub. Better but still trash. For the all new system, I had the follwing goals:
1. No intrusive SUB box in the cargo area as I use it all the time.
2. Ultra tight mid bass with heavy sub if I wanted to crank it up.
3. Use all factory speaker positions. No boat-style "missile pods" hanging off the roll bar.
4. No distortion at full volume, period.
5. Bass you can truly feel without rattling the body loose.
6. Professionally tuned to the music I listen to. 90% Hip Hop, southern rock/blues, and deep house.
7. Professional installation with full factory functionality from the OEM screen.
$6000 budget
Parts List:
JL Audio Stealth Box for Bronco
JL Audio MX - 500 Monoblock amp for Sub
JL Audio MX - 500 4 channel amp for speakers
Focal Flax 3 way 6.5 x 4
Focal Flax 2 Way x2
DSP
Mobridge Module
High Guage wiring
Labor - $1250
Installed total cost - $6210 by SSG Car Audio of Ft. Lauderdale
The transformation is absolutely mind blowing. I have the top and the doors off and it sounds like a concert. It's beautiful balanced and crisp.
I know it isn't a cheap solution but if it's important to you, this is a killer set up that looks 100% factory (outside of the tweeters on the A pillars which look rad.)
