Interested to hear your thoughts on the quality/effectiveness of the wind screen. Looks pretty good. I swapped all my screws/bolts for black powder coated stainless (instead of shiny).

I gave up on this rack and went with Valkyrie... The reasons being...

This one is STEEL, and heavy!
No provisions to adjust the crossbar spacing.
The rails are tapered and each crossbar is a different length, so even if you wanted to drill and move a crossbar, you can't.
Cost... This is pricey!
Black is an additional cost
Wind deflector is available...at a price.

Badass Tents is mostly aluminum. Cross bars are aluminum and rails are two layer - aluminum and steel. Also, those t-slot aluminum crossbars are easily available anywhere at any length so it’s not like you are locked into a proprietary system like Thule or Yakima.

Locked in like Thule or Yak? Their HD crossbars are all adjustable for length 🤷
Extruded aluminum crossbars on the Valkyrie as well 👍🏻
And slotted rails for placement 👍🏻

I mean locked in as in locked in to a vendor’s proprietary fittings, connectors, and attachments. This rack is more like universal / vendor agnostic hardware but This rack is designed as a kit for a Bronco and uses factory mounting points.. You can take it further to suit your own needs without it looking like a hack job. Anyway it more than meets my needs and it looks great on my CG Wildtrak, and it is super well made in USA by a small business that stands behind their products and listens to their customers. That’s my experience fwiw.

I made the Yakima .MegaWarrior with the extnesion work with the factory roof rack. The rear bracket is a little further back than I would have liked (can sorta see in the pic) but it still clamped on and holds extremely well due to some added rubber padding.

I also added heavy duty zip ties in a couple of other locations to snag the other crossbar for additional piece of mind. That shit ain't going anywhere.

It looks like you added a crossbar, so that there are three total?

I did! I was going to just move the middle one to the front but I had Ford points so I added the 3rd. I figured this couldn't hurt and would add some rigidity through the middle. I also wanted to ensure I had all.of.the crossbars I could ever need in case they change the design and I am unable to get one later on.

Anyone have any shots of their BA rack without the air deflector but the end caps installed?

Thanks, looks awesome without the air deflector :)
I was disappointed by the redesigned air deflector. It requires adhesive above the windshield. I like the original design because it allows for you to shrink the roof rack to just the rear section. I will be doing that part of the year for the Bestop Sunrider.

You mean the old design allowed you to move the deflector to the rear rack?

The old design is removable because it is attached to separate single width aluminum cross rails. The new design attaches to the front double cross rail from the rack itself and has adhesive strips to attach to the body above the windshield.
