Many of us think that life is too short to worry about MPG. Maybe that's my attitude because I put in 300+ hours boating each summer at about 9 gallons per hour.

It’s not worrying about MPG, it’s worrying about money. Some don’t have that kind of disposable income to blow.

That came out great don't worry about rock chips now either.
I did this to a cj and its definitely a relief not worrying about paint damage ,but its something you have to be sure about because there is no going back.

Ah yes.
This is as rugged and utility as I imagined it would be, and more.
I've done a few Jeeps and misc parts, dozens of truck beds.
Awesome work by whoever did it, and it is definitely different and to me, a great look.

Naysayers will always voice their concerns/opinions as well, but at the end of the day it is your ride, your funds, your choice. Sure, it would impact resale to some or even most people, but not all people. I can see the creativity and utilitarian, built-for-adventure intent.

Once I end up needing my Race R refurbished I'll have to decide whether to custom paint or Desert Tan Raptor line it. This goes a long way in illustrating to me how the body lines and overall look will end up, and TBH, looks pretty badass.

I get it that we are all on different budgets and at different stages in our lives. My wife and I were on a tight budget until we were well into our 40’s which meant we mostly drove used cars. I’m age 57 and when my Bronco arrives next week it will be the first new vehicle I’ve owned other than the company cars I drove for over 20 years and those were basic trims - none had power seats until my 2015 Dodge Journey. My wife is the same age and she has only had 4 new cars in her life. We are at a different life stage now with two adult kids and will soon be empty nesters. I’ve earned the right not to worry about gas prices because we sacrificed and saved for decades.

Many Americans are poor savers and don’t understand the concept of delayed gratification or the miracle of compound interest over a few decades. They spend beyond their means which will have them working longer and having less when they are older. We always had the worst/least expensive cars in the neighborhoods we lived in and lived in tract homes until age 47. We wanted a boat and other toys but we never bought one until we were age 53 when we could afford it and our other obligations were taken care of such as saving for retirement and college. We watched our neighbors and friends live with much nicer “stuff” while we were quietly saving 30% or more of our income. Maybe we’ve been a little lucky with some of the equities we’ve invested in, but when you stay disciplined for 30+ years you make your own luck.

FWIW, $1,000 worth of Apple stock from 2004 is now worth over $400,000 and there are dozens of others that have gone up just as much. If your investing in an index fund each month with a portion of your salary, you'll wind up owning some stocks like that.

I don’t have a lot of empathy for someone who bought a new Bronco and can’t afford to fill it up. Especially when I was stuck driving Chrysler minivans and Doge Journeys for work for two decades.
