Interesting product. Thank you for sharing.

As mentioned in my 1st post, the 3.5L has a plastic oil pan BUT Ford made a change. All 3.5L produced after Feb. 26 2018 all came with a metal oil pan. So my 2019 Raptor has a metal oil pan and I use the fumoto valve on it.

For those who are not familiar, the valve has a spout/nipple at the end of it where you can attach a hose and drain oil directly into your recycling container.

Another thought on drain plugs I have seen used. This is a little more compact and fits the 2.7 engine.

That's a simple, low-cost, solution. Brilliant! Thanks!

I thought the bronco already came with some sort of partial twist drain plug (aka not the standard, pull out bolt)?

Maybe I was reading something else... Dunno.

Posted earlier is a yellow drain plug. This is what you will get. The issue is controlling the flow/gush of oil when you pull that plug. Tons of video on YouTube about what happens when you pull that plug. Fumoto is a valve that allows you control when you drain your oil.

fast forward to 3:20 min mark and you will see

I have been selected to beta test their product. Once I received the valve I will be changing the oil on my wife's 2018 Lariat. I will take detailed pics of their plug and compare it the oem plug.

:)

I just use a new plastic drain plug on every oil change on any car with one. Ford, VW, Etc...

If the 5-10 dollars added to the bill is unacceptable, I can gladly recommend a plethora of shops who will take less precautionary steps and not lose any sleep.

This new plug has a valve so it never has to be removed. It will behave like this:

I see the "merit" of the design, but wouldnt ever run one personally.

It introduces modes of failure not currently present.

We now have to rely on a "used" o ring or seal ring for oil retention. The sealing ring is not replaced at an interval. All rubber or rings undergo plastic deformation, I just don't personally agree that its saving much effort or time without introducing more possible issues.

My one friend has run one on every car hes owned, never seen a failure. No empirical evidence to back up my worries.

thank you for admitting you have no evidence to prove it will fail. Yet you provided evidence that it works. I have used these valves for years on many cars and never once has it failed.

I know a guy whos laid down with MANY hookers. Just because he didn't get Hepatitis C does not make it good practice.

I fully agree to disagree here sir, and we commonly agree.

Science still tells us there are more failure modes on this product than a soild plug and o-ring.

Counter to my counterpoint:

It doesnt matter what plug if its installed wrong.

i bought one for my jeep a few yrs back, drained my oil, put the valve in, filled it back with oil, went to reinstall my skid plate (that has a cutout for drain and crap, wouldnt go on. Ended up draining it and reusing the old plug lol.
You are not alone
I had the same experience. with my TJ Rubicon.
The crap that came out of my mouth that day. I was like Ralphie on A Christmas Story
