We just added a GearShade to our Bronco and wanted to share the installation process and our initial review. We have familiarity with the GearShade from Jeep's and are excited to have one for our Bronco.

Looking forward to Florida winter when this will become our full time top!

~$50 cheaper than the Bimini, intewesting

Can you close the soft top without doing anything else? Or do you have to have unhook some of the bits in the front?

Other differences:
Bimini leaves no gap at the front or back, and has a crossbar

Too bad they don’t have an option for hard top folks. I like this design a lot better.

Nothing special is needed for the soft to close, operates just like normal. No need to touch the GearShade.

They are coming out with a hardtop version soon. My understanding is that the soft top version works for the hardtop however it restricts access to the hardtop panel latches. The idea is to leave the GearShade in place with the top on or off which means they need to create access for the quarter turns of the hardtop panels.

Looking forward to see what they come up with.

I like this - but, with those grommets it’s not compatible with the SMS Exposed Racks…which are attractive to me at this point. Who makes one of these that has the ability to zip/roll/slide back?

That gap upfront seems problematic.

@BroncoTPA I enjoy the PP5 videos. Keep up the great work!

The Gearshade product looks great and I ordered one tonight. They use a lot of thought in the hold downs and I like that you can take it off and on with no tools. The image on their website does not use the front center connection point for a strap, maybe that was a later addition?

Bronco GearShade Tops – GearShade

I saw the TFL video on the Bestop Bimini and I was not impressed with the fact that you have a bolt on bar that goes across the center above the front seats ala wrangler. Old school thinking that takes away from the open air design of the Bronco and you are required to have tools to take it off and on. Kind of goes with the Bestop soft top that doesn't go all the way down. Neither impress.

@BroncoTPA, after watching it looks like it was flapping quite a bit at speeds. Have you compared to the Ford Bimini? Also, do you know if they have any plans to do color matching ones for the broncos?
Edit: I see they do have colors wonder how close they are.

That's what stopped me from ordering...she said there wasn't any noise...but the video looked liked it had a LOT of flapping noise...

There really isn't any flapping due to the number of bungees but it does "wave". It doesn't make any noise.

I will try to grab some additional in bronco video from the back seat tonight.

I think this looks great! It is on my list for sure. Awesome that you can pick colors!
I will wait to see what they come up with for the hardtop version because I do plan on getting the Modular top when it becomes available.

Looks super flappy and like it has a lot of gaps around the edges. Still think I'll wait on JTops.

Thanks for the video though. Looks pretty easy to install. đź‘Ť
