The plan originally was to sell my Audi and use the $$$$ plus car funds as a downpayment.

However, I got convertible fever and am thinking that come Oct, when rag top and TJ prices drop, swoop one up for $5k-ish, and if a few planned things don't happen between then and later, just sell the car as summer begins for extra and use it as an additional down payment

MR2 Spyder, Z, Miata, TJ, V8 Catfish, Solstice/Sky, Mk1 TT, etc.. Plenty of cheap toys I can use for the weekend and whenever I don't need my truck.

Thanks in advance,

Rogue

I have an E46 M3 Vert that will go away to make room for my new Bronco. I will enjoy it until then.

Used e30 verts are cheap and easy to work on.

Are you a mechanic or good with cars? If not, you'll be spending more than $5k.

I'm not, but also willing to learn. Actually picking up tools online, figure the older vehicles are simpler than the newer ones.

YIKES! Over here in Nashville area I picked up a 1990 vert for $1500. Just needed a few things (odometer, shocks, bushings).

Edit:
Here is one with a rebuilt motor and some other goodies for $4.5k

(Not getting political, but I'm sure TN is on the Tristate list)

Any money you spend now is just money not saved. Thank about the long game.
Oh I know, just also thinking see if the prices take a hit, and move in, then aside from gas and stuff, if I don't put too many miles on the vert, just resell it come spring when prices rise.

Then again, there might be some backup things that take effect to offset it as well.

Used e30 verts are cheap and easy to work on.
I'll post it in a bit, but saw a beautiful E30 at Wegmans once, I'm sold on it.

Like me and the Audi, except I had 6yrs with it and while I enjoy it, doesn't suit my needs anymore, hence the Bronco and the possible for now toy.

Side note, Audi's at the shop being worked on as we speak, wanted to take care of a few issues before I sold it (Infamous Glovebox hing, center arm rest and biggest of all, AC Compressor).

My 2 cents: 1) Your A4 quattro is the near-ideal winter DD. 2) A $5K cabrio, any make, is little more than a hole to throw more money into. 3) Your Bronco this time next year will be awesome - the beginning of some of your best memories. Good things comes to they that wait. :)

Edit - corrected typo "through" to "throw"

Glad I'm asking and the Audi's not for sale yet, keep an open mind and stuff about things.

I would hold off

It would be a bummer to buy something for five grand and then have it break and cost you half of that in repairs
