So I didn't like any of the racks available, and I didn't want my bikes hanging off anything. So I made this fork holder rack with a 2x6 and a couple fork mounts. About $60 total and a jigsaw. Works great.. for my bike to get it snugged in there I just hit my dropper post switch and the seat ramps up into the rear support brace. Bike doesn't move around or shake at all. Tires are in perfect location to strap down to the back of the seats if you wish... To the child support bars back there.

Took about 35 mins to whip up!

I have a similar setup. To prevent the wood from sliding, I stapled an old inner tube to the bottom of the wood. Works perfect.

I have felt on the ends, kinda of wedging the board in place. If I needed to I was going to strap the fork mount to the tie downs! But it hasn't been needed!

My L modern Geo bike barely fits in the center with this setup. Nice option to have for sure

what size frame? 27.5 or 29er? I have the kuat pivot and NV2.0 but sometimes get tired of fiddling with the pivot to get my crap in the back or my pump. Considered something like this but also ride an XL Santa Cruz 29er and have a 2 door so I’m not sure how it would go.

This is a medium evil following, 29er.... I don't think there's anyway a 29er fits in the 2dr unless you maybe take both wheels off.

Not true - I have a large Transition Spur, it fits perfectly with the front wheel off. Here it is with all of my camping gear. I normally use surf straps to strap the fork to the tie downs so it won't move.

Now......I have no rear seats, that complicates things a bit (although it did fit when I first got the Bronco).

With all of that said, I'm debating a 1UP rack right now. I just don't love having to work around it every time I need to access the rear cargo area (which is a lot).

Nice work. Nothing like sweating bullets every time you go "iN" somewhere with $16K in bikes sitting on the back of your rig! All the cable locks in the world don't give me a whole lot of solis from a motivated thief. Just don't let those bars hit that side window. How did you bolt to the floor? I will have to look into this...thanks for posting. OH...I wish Maxxis did green tires!

I prefer the handlebars on the floor, it provides a more stalele base, and then it's just a strap through the tie downs. Standing it up is problematic loading/unloading.

It's not bolted to the floor. When the bikes aren't on it the whole thing comes out and leans up against the wall of the garage. The way it fits in its sturdy and doesn't move at all with the bikes on it. You could strap it down with the floor mounts if you wanted to tho. The bikes don't move side to side at all. So no worry about the handle bars touching the windows.

Oh, and the tires are Versus. They have been pretty good so far! Look cool to lol

Ahhh....got it. Ingenious! Even more stable with two bikes. Thanks!

This is a great, creative solution. Even with the smaller cargo space, this should work well for bikes in a 2 door as well…

I've got an XL Orbea and a 4 door. I've measured and even with the front wheel off I think it would be a very tight fit. I also have a soft top which complicates things - I haven't felt like trying to wrestle the bike through that smaller opening. But there have been a few trips where I drag my bike along for a week and may get to ride 1 day - I'd rather keep it inside the vehicle out of the elements and less attractive to thieves.

I've got a 1UP and think it's a great piece of engineering. You will need the 2" hitch extender to get it to clear the spare. I also got the LED light bar (aka, don't hit my f-ing bikes light) which does double duty to silence the back up sensors- Bronco reads it as a trailer.

The locks from 1UP work fine for a quick run into the gas station. I've got a Kryptonite Fahgettaboutit for when I need more security.
