Seems to be confusion in this arena so:

ADM - additional dealer markup. Placed over the MSRP to inflate profits and egos.

  • ADM is actually just plain markup that a dealer charges over MSRP because of market demand... also known as Market Adjustments.
  • The added on accessories are an addendum item that is added to the price to increase profit and bypass the mandated by Ford no Market Adjustments...
  • That is what the Tint, Wheel Locks, etch, Rust Proof, Undercoat, Paint Sealant, Fabric Guard, etc are included under.

MSRP - manufacturer suggested retail price... retail or Window Sticker. Would sell them all day for this profit structure.

Invoice - below window sticker...is not true cost if car ... this is what floorplan and banks use as cost.

Cost is 2-3% behind invoice that dealers use to defray he cost of floor planned (sitting in stock) inventory.

Options on the vehicle that are configurable at order time will have an MSRP. invoice and cost

Accessories - added on after the vehicle us built.

Known as dealer installed accessories.

Have an MSRP and cost no invoice and price structure is determined by the application. (Some items have more profit structure than others

BUILD & PRICE tool used by consumers to "make" their vehicle and change at a whim

Configurator- Dealer tool used to order the vehicle

X plan has been explained in other threads but let's be consistent.
It is a partner pricing structure that is .4% below invoice plus a 275 fee that Ford requires.

We get a 300 commission so with Bronco 6G forum (only ones who know) and the x plan you will be 1300 below invoice.

A, D, and Z plans. If you work for Ford a dealership employee or a retiree from Ford these plans will be available to you and you know the rules already.

Reservation system by Ford is something new. Came out for the MachE, then to Bronco Sport now Bronco. Growing pains are expected but I believe this was a way larger test than intended and it broke..

I am sure Tesla has similar pains at first without a dealer network support.

Allocation - is based on prior sales and dealerships were rewarded with extra vehicles because of being a volume store.

Reservations will eventually lead to allocations but after all reservations have been filled. We will probably not see stock units til 2022 now

Please feel free to pm and I will add as necessary.

Thank you for this, there's a reason so many people are choosing your dealership!

I realize that

When B&P comes out I will still get a larger # because travel for price will be substantial on the higher models and Laura on the lower models

Ford Partner website says Dealer invoice minus 0.4% of dealer invoice plus the $275 admin fee.......

Good list. Just one thing.

Not trying to start anything or add to confusion but just want to say as I posted yesterday, Ford itself uses "Build and Price" and "configurator" together, or interchangeably as if they are one and the same thing. It may be true that the dealer tool is also called configurator, but casually across forums and elsewhere online people tend to think of them as the same thing.

Look at Ford's own press releases:

https://media.ford.com/content/ford...dering-begins-online-and-at-ford-dealers.html

"Customer waiting lists are growing, and traffic to the Raptor build and price configurator site on Ford.com topped 90,000 hits in the first 10 days."

Just wanted to add that since most places online that you see "configurator" is talking about the B&P accessible by the public, and not an online tool for dealers to order the vehicle. This is Ford's own use of the term, which I understand may differ from how Ford dealerships understand the term or it may refer to more than one thing.

Anyhow thanks for posting this. It's a good lesson in basic terminology.

I have a question for you on this:

If you have, say, 1,000 orders, while my local guy has 50, where do I get delivery first? Is it truly based on reservation time? Or will the volume at a particular dealer factor in?

I realize that

When B&P comes out I will still get a larger # because travel for price will be substantial on the higher models and Laura on the lower models

Based on your reservation number not on how many we get..

I keep seeing folks refer to dealer "allocation." Is this new inventory delivered to dealers that is above and beyond what people will have ordered through reservations? Or something else?

Thanks for all the great info and honesty you've shared on this forum. If only all dealers were as frank and helpful.
