We have had plenty of customers mount an array of different ski and snowboard mounts on our half rack. It is a great option for those winter activities! If you have any additional questions, message us here or on [email protected] and we will be happy to answer.

Have they been able to mount awnings as well?

do you actually have to loosen/remove the fairing to take off the middle panel? Their FAQ mentions that a few times

I have a 2 door , so only the front panels are removed. When i installed the rack i did need to adjust the angle of the fairing to allow easy removal of the panels but it was no big thing.

With a half rack the skis do hang off the back a fair amount. Maybe 1/3 of the distance. That also makes them more subject to road grit. Fully enclosed is best. But being on top of the car on a full rack protects them fairly well from road grit. If you’re concerned with that.

X-Rack has some great Hitch mounted Ski carriers. The wing system can hold 2-3 rows of skis or snow boards, it can also be added to a cargo rack for more carrying capabilities. In the summer it can hold off road gear or fishing gear. If you have the swing out, you can use the 32" fixed wing post and 2 add on wings. I added some photos of what else you can do with this type of carrier.

Let me know if you have any questions.

or you can use this Flex wing XL and you don't need your swing out. It will clear the spare tire and It tilts down to open the tailgate. I prefer the swing out which is what I use on my Bronco.

Nick, I couldn’t find it but do you have a horizontal ski/snowboard rack for your spare tire carrier mount? I’m picturing something like this, but with rack clamps I stead of the box, rotopax platform:

I have a Hooke Road half rack with Yakima ski/snowboard racks. Not sure the exact model of the Yakima rack, but I bought it new in 2014 if that helps. This is the best (and only) pic I have:

That's the setup I just bought as well, but due to binding spacing on my snowboards, I cant mount them upside down so it limits how many I can carry

Do you have the same problems with yours?

I haven’t tried mounting them upside down, I put my snowboard and what my wife’s snowboard in the Yakima rack, but my kids snowboards are very small so they just go in the back

On the half rack with skis are you able to open the rear window without it hitting the skis?
