Harbor Freight 12,000 lb Winch is WORTH the hype

I have both a Warn Zeon 120-S and a Badlands Apex 12000. Each mounted to Jeep Rubicons. I have used both in recovery situations. Both are over-sized for the Bronco and Wrangler and are un-phased in almost any situation. The Badlands compares very well to the Warn. It pulls strong and smoothly. It is an exceptional value. There have been many tests proving its capability and ruggedness. I have a hard time imagining a use-case that Warn performs better enough to support an additional $1000. Time will tell if it holds up as good as the Warn.

It has similar dimensions as the Warn and should fit anywhere you would mount a 12S. I plan to start with the Apex on my Bronco (if and when I ever get it).

In either case, it is nice to have competition in this space.

I am going to commit a little Warn blasphemy... I have an Apex 12000 winch sitting in the corner waiting to get installed. I have a Warn Elite bumper enroute to get installed on my Bronco when it arrives (9/13 build date)… I chose the warn elite bumper because I can still use the front camera.... Yes, its a bit wider than some would hope.. I figure if it becomes an Issue I'll give it to my fabrication friend to customize for me and trim off the ends a bit.. LOL.... I'll try and make a video of the installation of both when I do it.

Got an old badlands on the front of my comanche, fully exposed, in moist wet maui. Solenoids filled with water corroded and replaced once other than that 5 years strong. Cable is a lil frayed from use as a implement lifter without a pulley on my comanche.

Edit: I'm an idiot, got in a hurry and grabbed the wrong one (damn ADHD strikes again). The steel line version is normally $549.... The synthetic is the one that is $100 off this weekend ($539). Guy probably wouldn't have gave me the 20% discount if it was already on sale. Oh well, I ended up ahead anyway because I got the warranty, I'll just pick up a synthetic rope and fair-lead seperate (the closest HF is like 60 miles away, not going back this weekend).

Guy at the register just gave it to me. It was to get me to buy the warranty (which I did buy the 1 year) but he said he would give it to me either way. The receipt says customer satisfaction on the discount.

I just watched it. Sure looked like mount flex is what caused the ball rolling for it's demise. I'm not sure a warn would survive that kind of deflection either.
