I take my rear clam shell off in spring and don't want to mess with it till fall. The problem is what if it rains...... Best top sells these for jeep so I thought i would make my own.
- I bought a soft topper rear window for a f-150 ( its close but still now a perfect fit on the sides )
- ran 1/2" conduit through the top and bottom to give the window rigidity
- used my existing ford accessory tonneau cover I attached it to the bottom of the window with wire ties
The top of the window just rests on top of the frame and I can drop it down behind the rear seats if I don't need it. The speakers are outside but not much you can do about that and their relatively waterproof.

Handy solution. I’ve got roughly the exact set up (minus your new window) and I’d consider this more to block rolling dust sucked from the back into the cab on dirt roads. Question tho: with Bestops mesh Bimini it looks to me like you're blocking rain by just installing your removable front panels on top of the mesh and if so, how is that working for you? Can you trust that back second row panel to stay put at freeway speeds/bumpy roads without those rear latches locked to the clamshell? Totally curious

I tried the best top bimini and the front flapped and the rear was wearing away the pint, so thew it away and went to the jtops and that's working well. The Jtops can be left on with the top panels.
I've not gone down a bumpy, rocky road with the first two sections on, although the rear section is pretty solid I could see it bouncing a bit under extreme use. freeway and normal off road use.... no problem.

Ya, had issues with JTops, mainly how hard they shut me down on making a canvas Bimini to keep rain and dust out of the cab, which with your back window solution would be my ideal fix to my dust problem. I even offered to have them custom make it, and it wasn’t just a ā€œNoā€, but a ā€œno, never, and quit askingā€.

edit: I’m backwards on which I have. It’s JTops that I have, not BestTops

JTops shipped me the wrong bimini cover. When I reached out, they gave excuses as to why it took several business days to even respond. They then send me a second incorrect cover and have since not responded to my emails. I would NOT do business with them. It is not unreasonable to expect a reply from a business that sent the wrong item. Terrible customer support, among the worst I have experienced.

Jim I thought we were ok on this. We talked and I apologized for the issue and have a new top ready to hand deliver to you.

Ride, we are in the process of creating one. But it will be water resistant not water proof. A waterproof solution involves a cage and door surrounds. That equates to a soft top.

@JTopsUSA Mike, thanks for the reply. For my purposes driving dirt roads, I don’t need it to be fully waterproof. I just need the Bimini to be non-fully breathable fabric and have an option for a removable rear window to seal the back just behind my back seats. I just need it to stop the Venturi effect of sucking rolling dust back into the cab. Waterproof material/canvas on the exact same pattern as your mesh Bimini would be perfect šŸ‘Œ

Here is what we are working on. I think it will meet your requirements. If all goes right it will be available in mid to late September. We are also in the process of protecting the design with a patent since a certain Chinese company from this forum seem to think it’s ok to just copy our designs. That is adding to time to market.

What do you think? It’s hard to see but it has a removable isinglass rear window. We are also using premium twill materials.

Certainly looks burly. And I gotta think there’s a big need for this with Bronco owners considering the same air-suck effect happens when driving wet roads in rain. Personally I prefer the dust over highway road grime getting sucked in. Will you be offering a non-full tonneau cover in back for those of us with a lift lid tonneau?

Looks nice. Not sure of how the view looks down the tunnel, but possibly a bigger window for visibility would be nicer
It would be really nice if it would work with the factory hard top and just the rear window part for those of us with the slipstream enclosure 🤠

Sorry, was out of town, and I did not realize it was two threads. I still need to sync up, but we are good. I appreciate Jtops reaching out.

^^^ Really, what I wanted to say and didn’t. A bit more visibility for window, and ditto on the enclosure solution. For Ford/Tuffy enclosures, seems like there’s plenty of anchor points between the lid and behind rear seats at floor level that’d work great.
