? But bolted to what ? . . . MIC 'hardtop' is like paper-mache, except using plastic . . the core is some honeycomb cardboard material -
The MIC tops are well made. Coring is Common and a best practice in laminate construction in boats, automotive parts, aircraft, etc, providing strength and light weight. It allows airplanes to fly, and makes removable Bronco tops light enough to lift, and boat hatches light enough to open. But the area where fittings are attached should be solid, without non-structural core, and the laminate in that area should be well saturated with resin. Bonding struts in this manner should be fine, if done properly.

The great thing about forums is that you get to "ignore" those who consistently post

or faulty information.

Yes, the disc nuts are metal. I imagine mine had inadequate glue on the nuts so maybe others will never see this problem…Still not a good design. Rather would have liked to see a mounting bracket to the lip of the hardtop where the TP50 bolts into or where the soft top ready nut is into the body. Another bolt to take off to get the hardtop off but wouldn’t have this problem.
….Inadequate glue on the nuts huh!? You’re right, I hope I never see that problem!

just dropping an update here:

Has been 5months and still waiting for a new top. Talked to the dealer and it has an expected early May delivery date. Has sucked not having the back window operable but that’s okay. Probably better that hardtops going to new builds so more people can enjoy their Bronco. I certainly have.
