The MIC tops are well made. Coring is Common and a best practice in laminate construction in boats, automotive parts, aircraft, etc, providing strength and light weight. It allows airplanes to fly, and makes removable Bronco tops light enough to lift, and boat hatches light enough to open. But the area where fittings are attached should be solid, without non-structural core, and the laminate in that area should be well saturated with resin. Bonding struts in this manner should be fine, if done properly.? But bolted to what ? . . . MIC 'hardtop' is like paper-mache, except using plastic . . the core is some honeycomb cardboard material -
