I recently installed the harken hoister for 4 dr hard top. When I raid the roof it is sliding on the straps and tilts to back.

move tried adjusting the straps but just can’t get it to come up level.

I havethe pulleys mounted to pull straps from the far outside edge of the top.
I’m wondering if I should relocate them so the straps pull up from towed the middle.

any ideas what I’m doing wrong??

Mine did the same thing. Drove me crazy. I called Harken customer service after two days of messing with it. Right away she said, "the straps are sliding on the rubber on the top, right?" She recommended wrapping something around the straps to reduce the sliding. I cut some foam pipe wrap and put it around the straps. Then I tied the rope to the rear strap about 18 inches shorter than the front. Worked like a charm and the top lifts straight up now.

I use some hand towels for some friction and also to spread out the force. Weeks in the rafters at a time with no sliding.
