Looking into upgrading my kick panel speakers. I have the 4" Kicker DS in the rest and wanted to get the same but they only have them in the 6 3/4". I see people installing the 6.5" with the adaptor ring so wondering if I forgo the ring, if the bigger would fit?

Anyone try this yet?

From my understanding, at least for the Kicker KS series the 6.5" and 6.75" speakers are exactly the same and the mounting ring is the only thing different. I have to call kicker because the one supposedly sticks out a little further but if they are the same speaker I want to find out why.

Let me know what you figure out. I.l'm going with KS for doors also, been debating which fits better.

I did mine with JL C1s. The factory speaker was a little bigger On my B&O. Plenty of room, I would be surprised if it didn’t fit but may depend on the ring.

It wasn’t due to the depth of the back it was due to the amount it could stick out in the front. I’m assuming worse case is you trim down a little plastic on the backside of the grille cover. Would rather just bolt it in though.

Exactly. The trim ring adds depth in the front. The JL trim ring was pretty thin and left plenty of space. Not sure about the kicker.

do yourself a favor and put a true "mid woofer" in your kick panel instead of a 2 way speaker
I installed a subwoofer already so I'm not looking for more bass but more quality overall sound. After having the sub in, I don't even know how much different the kick panel speakers will make but I will still change them out.

The issue with a sub is your crossover is set at prob 120hz or lower. So from 120hz to around 600hz you’re not going to hear bc the 4” can’t get there.

I didn’t do it for “more bass”. I did it for fuller bass through all ranges.

Good to know, thanks for the input! Is there one that you recommend? I don't plan to run them through an amp.

if you run new ones on the head until you will not be happy. The stock ones are basically open air subs. They are 25 watt max and the head until is 15watt rms. If you don’t run an amp what you miss most certainly find is your new med basshas extremely low volume to the point you will not hear it over your other speakers. If your end game is better and fuller sound, run an amp to the 6.5’s

The Kick speakers need the most improvement. Here's my choice the JL 6w3-4. The sound difference is mind blowing.
