With Ford retooling to design a different roof, im assuming it will be slightly different, has anyone seen a prototype? Also will we beable to have molded in colour, since it wasn't available when we reserved?

I think it'll look exactly the same, just that the outer plastic layer is a bit thicker (which you can't really see). It will be the same greyish color, you can't get it in any other color, if that's what you're asking. Nor was that ever an option. The painted top is delayed until late next year (if that), and that was going to be available in black or body color if I recall correctly. But I never looked at it that closely.

I don't see how it would be possible to have even a prototype at this point. The new top will be a ground-up redesign with all new tooling for manufacturing. Many people think the October estimate for production is aggressive.

I wouldn't expect painted top options any sooner as those are a different material/process and Ford has its hands full with getting caught up with the MIC, so there's no real likelihood they would plan to produce the painted top options any sooner than they have announced.

I am absolutely convinced that the MIC Top 2.0 prototype is built and being tested as we speak. The question is will the MIC 2.0 be produced (quality and quantity) for dirt mountain builds and FE's that were scheduled this week for September?;)We will see in a short two weeks.

I sure hope its one solid top piece from windshield to back glass but I know that's too much to ask for.

We've yet to see anything related to the ORIGINAL MIC top leak outta Webasto!
We're a long way from seeing anything I believe.

there's no new design. Changes to what they did before, thicker plastic on top and some process to roll the edges and make them nice and durable, I would not expect more, nor is more necessary. Good to hear that they are already making some!
The roof will not be re-designed in a long time is my bet. Once they got these problems ironed out, there's no reason.

They had already said quite awhile ago that they were redesigning the roof for ‘22 to accommodate a higher load rating.
