Has anyone spoken to a Ford salesman that actually knew as much as you do?

Why is educating yourself on the products you sell a bad thing? So if potential buyer has questions, you would rather misinformation be spewed? Ultimately, this attitude is what's killing the dealer model and you'll eventually be reduced to a service-only center.
I 2nd this!
It only takes maybe 30 minutes time to get the bulk of bronco info down. Ford made it easy that way by limiting our options which is the only good thing about limited options lol.

From a buyers point of view, why would I want someone who knows less than me, but insists they know everything.

never in my life have i met a salesman that knew more than i did. that doesn't mean they were dumb, thats just saying that i'm (and most of us here) are a rare breed. Im perfectly okay keeping this expectation as i work with my ford dealer.
I did however have one ford dealer tell me that i was buying the bronco directly from ford and therefore i couldnt negotiate with the dealer. I didnt appreciate the lie so i did not make my reservation with them

Is my dealer (Bronco Specialist) correct when he says that we will receive email notification from Ford when it's time to convert our reservations to orders?
Yes and no, so from what we have been told. We are to contact the customers when it is time. To schedule a time for them to either stop in and covert it to an order. Or I could see this being done over the phone with COVID. Although I can see Ford sending an email to customers as well, letting them know it is time. I told all of my customers to have a print out ready of their build, to make the process easy

Since the start of this journey, I have been to about 5 dealerships hunting down one thing or another. It amazes me how little salesmen know about the Bronco. It feels like the average salesman is five steps behind. Is it lack of briefing from corporate? Or is it my involvement on the forum that puts me five steps ahead? I am not sure.

Today's experience tipped the scales - I was seeking out carb gray on the explorer. Spoke to a salesman for a five minutes about when he thinks Bronco Sports will be coming to the lot so I could see Area 51. He spent three minutes trying to convince me that the color Area 51 is not a Ford color, and I was mistaken. Like with conviction - the color Area 51 does not exist, nor will exist on future models. Then when asked if he had the color binder, he also claimed no such thing exists. Not that his dealer didnt get them, but the book itself simply were never a thing....I have many other examples from other dealers, but this one was pretty eye popping.

Here I am, mapping out when each Bronco color will be coming out in conjunction with each model's estimated delivery date....and a salesman doesnt even know the #1 popular color for the Bronco even exists? It's such a crazy disconnect.

The reason this is somewhat concerning is that during the unknowns of the ordering process and dealer allocations, I find it hard to believe that when we are in need of answers, we'll get clarity from dealers. Luckily, my dealer is very knowledgeable, and I feel that I'm in good hands...but of the other 5 dealerships I went to, the lack of knowledge was incredible. That's 5 out of 6. I could see this becoming a little problematic, big picture...
I talked to a regional service manager a few weeks ago. He fully admitted I knew more than he did about Bronco and speculated I knew more than the local Ford sales staff. All I really do is enjoy this site for a few minutes most days.

It’s been like that for years. With the vast knowledge available on the internet, your always ahead of most sales people. I think there main job is to only seal the deal and process the paperwork.

It's but a drop in the bucket of why despite having decent, maybe even great, products, the stock sits at 6 bucks.

An organizational disconnect.

Not to be confused with your swaybar disconnect on your Badlands.
Up to 8 now, I am getting rich with my 100 shares!!

Not saying it's a bad thing. Just the amount of time most of us have invested! is far more than a working salesperson has time to invest!....of course, if they're NOT on FB, they have time for this! lol

Not just Ford salesman, pretty much any salesman. I like to research purchases before I buy, and have yet to meet a salesman on top of about anything, and it's frustrating. I understand they can't deep dive into every specific but at least have a general knowledge of every product line you are trying to sell and make money on. When I need real info on vehicles I tend to try and find a mechanic, they seem to know a whole lot more than the sales staff.

When I messaged my contact about who their bronco specialist was they were dumbfounded. Probably going to be decided by arm wrestling or rock paper scissors...

I'm used to salespeople being unknowledgeable or misinformed, this is why I over educate myself when I want a vehicle because theres nothing more annoying then a salesperson saying "ummm I don't think thats an option" when it clearly is.
There has been no training for it yet the specialists like myself just have to seek the knowledge out by our own initiative

Throw rocks if you will. But if I'm a sales manager and one of my guys/gals knows as much as we do, they're fired. Now. Why? Because it means they've spent as much time on here as we have instead of selling cars and calling prospects! There's no way they have the time or maybe even inclination to follow our hobby while they're working to sell what they have to sell. Which ain't the Bronco yet.
*raises hand. I have the time and I am great at my job, I handle internet and phone sales and coordinate with the entire sales team and juggle countless customers and leads simultaneously while having a strong presence here. This may be the case for some dealers but the bronco matters too, it may not be here yet but that doesn't mean these customers don't matter. We are still customers

I am in sales in Van Wert Ohio, along with being the dealer Bronco Specialist.. I can say we do have the color swatches that are really really close to the actual color you will see in person. (Color swatches also smell of fresh paint lol)Most of my info on photos and small details has come from this forum.

There are a few things that Ford has released before the forum. Although as of right now, I would like to say the forum is up to date with everything we know. I am happy to try and help (if I can) on any related questions. Most of you will know more than if not the same info as me lol.

If you do go to a dealer for questions. Ask for their Bronco specialist.
I'm in the same boat as you man, the only time we got any info that wasn't here was todays bronco broadcast and the only new thing beyond non answers and innuendo from ford was that the majority of the 200 accessories are dio's and will be in b and p eventually and showed a very unclear and uninformative video of 2 guys taking off a hard top and doors at like 4x speed from 20 ft away

It's a lack of passion for the job besides the initiative of "sell hunks of bits of metal for x amount of dollars."
What they don't understand is that selling whatever car to whatever people is one thing, selling a "lifestyle" or "enthusiasts" vehicle like the bronco is completely different.
Most buyers are more informed and passionate about their vehicles. They definitely don't fall into the oh that cars pretty, gimme category of buyers.

That said, it makes 0 sense from a customer service perspective to use the same half assed approach of "hey a car is a car and you need a car" mentality.

Sadly, once these are available on dealer lots it will be irrelevant. At that point the "ooh this car is pretty" crowd will be knee deep in bronco
It is a lack of concern for something months and months down the line, the attitude is that it isn't advantageous to sacrifice work for customers buying now to focus on people who aren't even for sure buying something months away. Some dealers are equipped to have people who can still make these people feel valued like mine but many don't. sales teams are often overworked and have too many leads and customers for them to effectively address and that is even with current customers for cars that are here.

Two quick stories.

First: My reservation was for a BD. Got the email from Ford to verify. Seven days later I heard from my Ford Dealership to congratulate me on my recent reservation for the Bronco Sport. I sent them my reservation verification from Ford and the changes were made. Crossing my fingers that they don’t mess up my order.

Second: When the X-Plan was in discussions and of the slim possibility, I reached out to the next Ford Dealership across town. I called them and asked for additional info on the 2021 Bronco coming out in June-July and if they’re accepting the X-Plan. The salesman said they would begin manufacture in October and to the dealers by December or January. I hung up the phone lol.

Still on ease and praying my reservation isn’t messed up.

This is the reason why I transferred my reservation. My dealer has a "Bronco Specialist" and he is on this message board. He has provided reliable information for our community too.

I know exactly what I want and I don't have any questions. Thanks to Bronco6G.
I also know I will be in good hands when I place my order in December.

For those these reasons I feel good about my dealer. Serramonte Ford - Bronco Specialist Sean AKA Gloff on Bronco6G.
