Since the start of this journey, I have been to about 5 dealerships hunting down one thing or another. It amazes me how little salesmen know about the Bronco. It feels like the average salesman is five steps behind. Is it lack of briefing from corporate? Or is it my involvement on the forum that puts me five steps ahead? I am not sure.

Today's experience tipped the scales - I was seeking out carb gray on the explorer. Spoke to a salesman for a five minutes about when he thinks Bronco Sports will be coming to the lot so I could see Area 51. He spent three minutes trying to convince me that the color Area 51 is not a Ford color, and I was mistaken. Like with conviction - the color Area 51 does not exist, nor will exist on future models. Then when asked if he had the color binder, he also claimed no such thing exists. Not that his dealer didnt get them, but the book itself simply were never a thing....I have many other examples from other dealers, but this one was pretty eye popping.

Here I am, mapping out when each Bronco color will be coming out in conjunction with each model's estimated delivery date....and a salesman doesnt even know the #1 popular color for the Bronco even exists? It's such a crazy disconnect.

The reason this is somewhat concerning is that during the unknowns of the ordering process and dealer allocations, I find it hard to believe that when we are in need of answers, we'll get clarity from dealers. Luckily, my dealer is very knowledgeable, and I feel that I'm in good hands...but of the other 5 dealerships I went to, the lack of knowledge was incredible. That's 5 out of 6. I could see this becoming a little problematic, big picture...

I called a local dealer and he was know it all that knew absolutely nothing. He made sure i knew that he had been the sales manager for over 20 years and told me either i was lying or the dealer was lying if they offered under invoice. He even started yelling back and forth with the owner to verify how right he was. I offered him this forum for knowledge and the website for two dealers offering below invoice. He made it super clear he didnt need to look at anything. He didnt even know there was an msrp on the ford website build and price. He just said all anyone knows is what is offered on the pamphlets that ford sent them. It blew my mind.

It has nothing to do with this forum, in my experience. Sure, this forum is one way, and a very effective way, to get information. But I've had the same experience for 30 years now. It just takes curiosity and the ability to seek out information. In some cases, it was as simple as just reading the brochures right there in the showroom, that's all it took.

It's but a drop in the bucket of why despite having decent, maybe even great, products, the stock sits at 6 bucks.

An organizational disconnect.

Not to be confused with your swaybar disconnect on your Badlands.

VERY disappointed in my salesman I've actually done business with before. I did have my reservation at another dealership as it was the only option at the time. The salesman there was a bit more informed. We actually had a great conversation outside of cars and share certain viewpoints on topics I won't discuss here almost like we're twins. I did move my reservation to Stephens as xplan got nuked and I was actually looking forward to working with the local guy. My first salesman that I have done business with before isn't even in the picture. He has texted and spoken with me about moving my reservation but it's not happening.

Nope. Asking a car “salesman” for detailed information is like asking a toddler to do calculus. It’s not going to happen and both parties will end up pissed.

I wasn't really expecting salespeople to know anymore than they barely already know to begin with, and I was right.

My contact with the dealer has always had this "oh shit" look each time we've met and i've explained what i want.

Yes. There are dealership members on here that quite often give us new, unknown early information.

When I messaged my contact about who their bronco specialist was they were dumbfounded. Probably going to be decided by arm wrestling or rock paper scissors...

I'm used to salespeople being unknowledgeable or misinformed, this is why I over educate myself when I want a vehicle because theres nothing more annoying then a salesperson saying "ummm I don't think thats an option" when it clearly is.
