I have opened and closed this hood dozens of times and never noticed it rubbing or grabbing before. Tonight I open up the hood after a bit of a drive (it’s a scorcher out but I can’t imagine that being a good enough reason) and the hood ends up grabbing this plastic piece where the wiper fluid spouts connect while I’m lifting it and it lifts 3 of these tabs out without me feeling any resistance at all. But I heard it pop (when the tabs popped out) so I stopped. But it’s so mishapen now that there is no opening the hood without someone else holding that plastic piece down for it to clear.

What the heck happened there? Is that something warranty should c?

Well good to know it wasn’t just mine. We have had triple digit weather here for close to a week so maybe it was the heat. I wouldn’t have thought it would warp it that much. Crazy.
Now let’s just hope Ford takes care of it. 🤞

@Ford Motor Company
Is this something Ford is tracking? It's happening to way too many people.

Damn it @kodiakisland - Now the OP will need to DM them their VIN so they can "help." It's like saying "Beetlejuice" three times... :cautious: 🤣

That's what I'm hoping for. I take a drink every time they show up and ask for a VIN#. My liver hates me, but I'm having a hell of a time.

In reality it should be warranty and replaced. But that’s my opinion.

What you can see is that the feet are a clip. They come down and go into a hole, but the clip isn’t long enough and then comes loose and pop goes the weasel.

Should be warranty. Crappy, flaccid, plastic and tabs that don't have mechanical fasteners. Tell the service advisor concern code B63 (moldings, exterior trim loose/missing) or B64 (moldings, exterior trim poorly aligned/fit) or B66 (other exterior trim troubles). Condition code will be 34 (distorted/wrinkled/wavy) or 42 (does not operate correctly) or 33 (loose part) or 12 (improper assembly).

I had this happen to me yesterday on a 85 degree day (hot and humid in MA). I felt some resistance as I tried to open the hood and sure enough the cowl was pulled up like the pics. I’ll go hit up my dealer to order a replacement this week.

@IAG Performance , I remember you had said you were developing clips to prevent this heat-induced flexing.

Still working on that?
