Help Understanding Price Breakdown

Hey everybody, I’m an original reservation holder from 2020. Anyways, my 2 DR, Wildtrak with Lux, Leather and Hoss 3.0 arrived this week. Very excited! I have the printout of the retail worksheet but the numbers are not making sense to me. I’m a dealership employee(Mechanic) so I’m eligible for D plan pricing (subtract $4356) and the price protection private offer of $3880. Can someone help me dissect this retail worksheet? Attached is the worksheet write up and my estimates I did using a calculator online.

I don't believe you are including tax in your estimate. You show fees of $2,002 being rolled in. It should be closer to $7,000 you need to roll in there to cover the $6,200+ tax.

Looks like they didn't subtract the down payment and the taxes don't match.

THis. Quick Google search has auto tax rate at 6.8% for WA. The amount shown on the dealer sheet ($6217) is closer to 11%

Your actually selling price should be higher than you have input to the finance calculator. With a D-Plan purchase the dealer is taxing the D-Plan commission they get back from Ford to sell you the vehicle at employee pricing.

Thanks for the input guys, I have the night to think it over and decide if I want to go through with the purchase tomorrow. The taxes don’t make sense to me either as they seem excessive. Also the extra $952 fee is an unknown cost.

I was under the impression that the private offer and D plan would subtract from the MSRP but I guess I was mistaken.

I ran the numbers through my auto loan spreadsheet I have been using for over a decade now. As I am not exactly sure how taxes are figured in WA I ran two scenarios. Column A figures tax after the D plan discount (negotiated). Column B figures tax before the D plan discount (MSRP). I was able to determine that tax is figured before the rebate discount in WA.

WA vehicle sales tax is a base of 6.8% for the state part but then each city/county adds on top of that. For Kirkland & Redmond the effective sales tax rate is 10.4%.

• Fife sales tax: 10.2 percent
• Tacoma sales tax: 10.4 percent
• Olympia sales tax: 9.0 percent
• Puyallup sales tax: 10.2 percent

And yes, the tax is paid on the pre-rebate amount.

Unfortunately I think it will be best to abandon the order and let someone else enjoy my truck. I’ve waited almost 3 years for my “Bachelor Spec” Bronco to arrive and it just so happens to be the same week I’m getting married. Oh the irony…..

If anyone is looking for a fully loaded Black, 2 DR, Wildtrak, Hoss 3.0, Lux, Leather with tow package it will be available in Lynnwood, WA at Harris Ford. It’s the nicest spec 2 DR I’ve ever seen!

Rebate typically comes off the price of the car pretax, but a down payment will come off the grand total that includes all taxes and fees.

havent done the math for your case, but i’ve made that mistake before.

if a car is 100k with a 100k rebate its free
If you make a 100k down payment you still owe 10k if the tax rate were 10%

sadly, not for WA state. If a car is 100K and you have a 100k rebate then you still pay taxes on 100k.

Once you pass on this your PP will disappear, will only be left with the D plan and most likely not another chance until 2024. I doubt you will be able to reorder this when the banks open up and when you can the price will add another ~5K.

My guess is finances are super tight and one should never over stretch unless they know positive change is on the way. Maybe the wedding gift money would help finance?

Sorry and congrats on your upcoming marriage. Ive been there done that but no one ever listens to me until after the fact.
