Yikes sorry to hear! Makes me think maybe a thrown rod to blow oil out of the bottom I assume due to ruptured oil pan...
He said he was driving down the road and it started making a strange rumbling noise, then it started to smoke, which was followed by a bunch of warnings going off and the engine failing. He would've stopped sooner but the stretch of road (we used to live on it) doesn't have anywhere to pull off until he got to where he could roll into a driveway to wait for the tow. When they loaded it onto the truck, oil dumped out of the skid plate, the tow driver said it looked like oil mixed with coolant. I didn't get to see it so I don't know for sure.

I'm not familiar with dropped valves, I thought they could appear similar to a thrown rod, is that not the case?

This thread makes this 'end of the liner' feel....more depressed.
Hope you are all taken care of correctly and quickly.

Failed Part Number: MB3E-6007-AA
Engine Julian Date: 21207
Engine Sequence Number: 131010
Mileage of failed motor: < 1000
Cause of failure: Valve
Replacement Part Number: Unknown
New Engine Julian Date: 21XXX
New Engine Sequence Number:
So if the last six digits after the Julian date are the engine sequence number, someone is going to have to explain to me why I have the same Julian date and engine sequence number as @estone28 (21207 131010)

Yup, I went back and checked his original thread. 7/28/21, at least that's what his dealer told him, so that would, indeed, be 21209.

But, are engine sequence numbers unique to each build date, or are they a running, sequential number that just continues to increment day by day? I can't imagine they build 131K engines each day. Maybe the digits in the sequence number are broken down into multiple fields indicating something other than a sequential number. Still a funny coincidence!

They are definitely not sequential, and I think the 12 and 13 (or the 2 & 3) after the date have some other meaning, since we have both appearing with earlier and later dates. My date is 228, but my sequence starts with 12. Could be a line or shift indicator?

Only Ford knows definitively. The guy that blew up on our build week(blend 9/7) got me a bit nervous. That's for sure.

Another issue reported recently was loose bolts in the fusebox.

Please provide a VIN or a engine serial number (mileage if available) so that I can document and track it.

Because I probably made a typo and it's actually 209. I will correct it.

I know this is an enthusiast forum, and I know if you take a sample set of 100k or something a few failures isn't the end of the world, but this is frustrating. Wild to see so many issues with so many components.

Best of luck to everyone.
Ya, but this is a subset of a sample of 33k under 5,000 miles, of which failed motors this early is typically exceedingly rare. Let's say that the sample here represents less than 25% of the 33k produced. 8 engine failures out of a sample of 8250, would be roughly 1 in 1032. To Ford's credit, that would be an anomaly with regards to their typical production reliability.
