The trim level that would allow Ford to "peg it" with the Bronco brand is the iconic "Heritage Edition" fitted with the 5.0 liter V8.

Perhaps named the "Heritage 302", it would recall the signature 1969 thru 1977 Bronco powered by the 302 (5.0 liter) V8. This is the spec that brought the Bronco to the party.

Obviously, Ford has an applicable 5.0 V8 today.

I myself don't want an obnoxiously loud V8 alike any V8-powered Ram truck. The original Bronco was never about that. Rather, the V8 Bronco was perfect in the mature and subtle way it went about its business, without need to use excessive noise to attract attention. The Bronco has always been about its persona.

The 5.0L will fit nicely into the Bronco's modified T6 Ranger platform.

"Car guy" Jim Farley, what do you say ???
It would have to tuned to true heritage power levels somewhere between 140 and 200 hp!

Everyone's idea of the bullseye is different. All this banter about cup holders, heated seats, lighted vanity mirrors, etc etc what the Bronco doesn't have! Just give me a reliable vehicle with cruise control (not adaptive) and without awful auto HVAC, lane assist, BLIS and all the other nonsense.

Exactly 🤣 my 1975 with a 3 speed manual was a danger on the freeway it was so slow. I’ll keep my 2.7, thank you.

No turbos to fail. More torque at lower RPM.

They also downshift and engine brake better.

Drive an eco-boost Mustang and a naturally aspirated V8. The V8 drives and handles better.
Well yeah the V-8 Mustang is going to drive and handle better than the eco boost lol. The coyote is a great engine for the Mustang. Open it up and let that baby scream past 7K RPM

As far as in the Bronco, the Godzilla or baby godzilla would be a much better fit than the coyote(even in truck configuration). Everyone I know that has had an F-150 and actually uses it for truck stuff has prefered the ecoboosts over the 5.0

An ecoboost mustang will handle marginally better than ones with the v8 lump.. the weight distribution is 2% further forward with the 4pot.. bringing it juuust about to the perfect 50/50 split.

my 1989 bronco had headers true dual exhaust and about the same HP as my 2. 3 4 cylinder. Now my 1993 f150 has has a 6 cylinder 302 and is running strong with only 275,000 miles

Gonna throw a match on the fire here but other than sound I dont understand the obsession with a V8. Yes Im old school and love a classic bronco with a badass engine but these modern versions make way more power than any stock v8 ever. And the way some of yall obsess over wanting a basic raw offroader sounds like you need to get a 1st gen or build something else. My little 4 banger does everything I want/need/ask it to do.
Got any new pics of your bronco? Loved your VB with the chrome wheels.
