I guess I consider myself lucky, am hoping I can get away with out any paint work. I hate having things repainted when it's less than a month old and less than 1k miles

True, but they will leave it looking new again. I had a small fender bender with my Wrangler. I figured 6k max came in at 11.5k. This type of work is expensive.

I would try to realign the quarter panel myself first to see if you can get it close enough to your liking. No $, just some time investment. If that doesn’t work then just take it in to a body shop.

If you look on the Police Report, the Officer will check which driver is "Suspected at Fault"
If they put the fault on the deer, then the deer's insurance company will cover your repair costs and usually rental car.
If they put you at fault, then you may need you hire an attorney... the attorney will then need to hire an Accident Reconstructionist to reconstruct the accident to determine if the deer was actually at fault.

Agree with others, just take it to a place you trust. I had worse deer damage to my Bimmer. Came out to be 2k.

My grill was broken and repainting needed to be done. I assumed it would have been way more than that. Thus, I just filed it as a claim and was told where to take it.

I wish I would have went in for an estimate first in retrospect.

My daughter hit a deer a couple weeks ago in her VW Tiguan, very similar damage to yours, the fender was misaligned (enough that the driver's door was binding against the fender).

I took off the headlight assembly and ran some 1" straps equally to the fender mounting points, then connected the straps to a slide hammer. Gave it 3 good wacks and in popped right back into place. I was honestly amazed at how easy it moved.

Fenders aren't the structural components they used to be... It's basically a superficial piece of metal bolted on with a couple lightweight standoffs.

I get it... new vehicle, but... don't use up your insurance card for this. It'll probably cost you more in deductible plus increased rates.

I agree. Save the claim for something big. I'd be willing to come out of pocket $1500 before filing the claim. Especially if you switched to a new company when you got the Bronco.

Sorry to hear that you've only had it a few weeks.
Then why not have a $1,500 deductible instead of $500? You're paying a premium for a $500 deductible. I've totaled a vehicle before and also had a hail storm total another one. My premiums never went up in some crazy amount, nor was I canceled.

I hit a deer a few months after I got my bronco. Pretty low speed and I thought it only hit the tow hook. A few days later I found the plastic body piece was popped out and I just popped it back in. My point is that I would try to re-align and put things together before taking it in.

I think it would be more than 500 bucks (pun intended) in damages but it's probably better to pay a little more out of pocket than to have your insurance spike your rate for the next 5 years
I have hit around 14 deer (live outside a large park) and at least in PA it's no-fault, so your insurance won't go up.
