While I can appreciate wanting to mount your boards inside of the vehicle, use them in mud and you may be rethinking that. My current set up:

My wife asked me to stop mounting my recovery boards (god knows they are sexy) so now I throw them in the bag thingy they came in and in the back they go.

Simple solution for my 2 door. Straps fit nicely on molle with seats down. I have the action trax. They are probably the best boards I’ve seen because they are rubbery and won’t chatter in my car while on the trail. I’m cheap and carry a trash bag to put them in if they get muddy. Easy to wash boards when home.

Question should I get another pair? Most folks I’ve seen only have one pair.

Two rok straps and as easy as that. This was the test fit so I'll need to mount them a little higher to avoid strikes.

It blocks a very little bit of the backup camera but not much.

Bringing this one back up. Just ordered the Ford Performance ones ( M-1820-FPRB ). The trick is to buy them from the Ford Performance site then it dumps you into the Ford accessories site where you can apply the discount they are running and use your points if you have some. You can't search for them on the Ford accessory site. next up will be to figure out how I want to mount them, not sure if they will fit behind my M2M cage setup behind the seat. May mount them to my shelf instead.

Why isn't lashing them to the soare an option? Costs nothing if you already have 2 lashes lying around. Mine are the TRED shorties from around 10nyeaes ago and they fit really nicely over the camera. The MaxTrax should fit too

In all my years I have never seen recovery boards recover anyone or anything that could not have just been accomplished more simply with proper tire pressure. I have never seen an actual use case for them on the trail or in the snow and I'm starting to be believe that no one has....

If you are actually stuck you need a winch or a come-a-long and the recovery boards only ever actually get used as annoying shovels. 🤣🤣

I mount mine on the side using my TrailRax setup and some hardware items from local Ace Hardware store. Side mounting plate is positioned back so the tracks don't interfere with opening the back passenger door and can open the back window/door with no problems.

These fit perfect just above my Baja Reverse Lights so I still have the function of that and my camera. Just attached with 2 perfect bungees. Can also run a cable and lock them to my propane mount.

Made a mount out of a piece of scrap i-beam from work. Mounted the boards high so they don't limit departure angle, and as long as I don't open the tailgate past 90° they don't hit my taillight.
