People want to throw around their wait time as a badge of honor. But so long as the initial day of waiting isn't clearly defined and accepted by the audience, then the duration is meaningless in their quest to be recognized for their martyrdom.

If everyone recognized that no one was waiting for a Bronco to be built until Job1 as a start, then the wait count would have more meaning.
Martyrdom is my jam!

No Bronco timeline would be complete without...

The 7 stages of Bronco grief:

The seven stages of Bronco grief helps explain the long journey and complicated experiences of the Bronco rollout.

These seven stages include:

Shock and denial: This is a state of disbelief and numbed feelings. I can't get what? I can't get it when? I can't believe Mike Levine did that again!

Pain and guilt: You may feel that the loss is unbearable and that you’re making other people’s lives harder because of your feelings and needs so you go buy a remote controlled Bronco.

Anger and bargaining: You may lash out, telling Mike Levine or a higher power that you’ll do anything they ask if they’ll only grant you relief from these feelings or this situation.

Depression: This may be a period of isolation and loneliness during which you process and reflect on the loss but take comfort in the fact your fellow forum members understand.

The upward turn: At this point, the stages of Bronco grief like anger and pain have died down, and you’re left in a more calm and relaxed state, then Ford changes the allocation model.

Reconstruction and working through: You can begin to put pieces of your life back together and move forward but then you find Ford moved your Bronco to the next model year.

Acceptance and hope: This is a very gradual acceptance of the new way of life after finally receiving your Bronco and a feeling of possibility for the future but then your tie rod breaks because you drove on grass.

And so it goes, Stay tuned, as the 2.7 turns...

Don’t really want to take away from the original content of going back and remembering the times of old, but I will leave you with this….

If I make a dinner reservation for next week, do i post that I waited a week for my dinner or just the time from when I ordered it? Should I count additional time for things I want they say they can’t make?

Jul 6th 1964 - Ford files a trademark application, assigned serial number 72197108, for the Goods and Services category of Motor Trucks. The application was approved and the mark was registered on April 20, 1965 — with a lifespan of 20 years. Offsite Article

1965 - Carroll Shelby receives one of the very first Broncos, a red w/ white top U14 Half Cab. He immediately removed the inline 6 and had one of his own high-perf 289 motors swapped in its place in addition to cutting the fenders to accommodate larger tires. Offsite Article

1966 - The Bronco is introduced. 1st Gen aka. EB (Early Bronco), offered in 3 configurations denoted by VIN codes (U13-roadster, U14-half cab, & U15-wagon) Pics Below A utilitarian vehicle available w/ dealer installed options such as: a vinyl soft-top, a compass, a handrail above the glove box, free-running hubs, PTO (Power Take-Off), & 2-Way-Radio. The Brochure uploaded by Bronco6G.com member @North7

Also in 1966 the Doug Nash designed drag racing Bronco Buster funny car makes it debut based off a 1966 U14 EB. The Bronco Buster was a 289 powered, 4 spd manual, turning in passes around 8.30 @ 180 mph Pic Below

1968 - Bronco roadster model (U13) production ends. Only 5,000 true U13 roadsters were produced over the 3 year run (66-68). Last year for the 289 ci V8.

Also in 1968, Larry Minor and Jack Bayer win the BAJA 1000 (Ensenada-La Paz route) in a 1st Gen Bronco w/ a time of 21:11:32

1969 - The 302 ci becomes the standard V8, replacing the 289 ci & remains there until the end in 1996. The front steering stabilizer becomes a standard feature. Electric 2 speed windshield wipers replace the prior vacuum operated units, although some early 69s still had vacuum wipers.

Also in 1969, Ford repeats! Rod Hall & Larry Minor, driving a Stroppe modified 1st Gen, win the BAJA 1000 (Ensenada-La Paz route) even beating motorcycle times w/ a time of 20:48:10! Pic Below

Finally in 1969, the BOSS Bronco Prototype, built by Ford 'Skunk Works' Kar-Kraft & Bill Stroppe. This was a performance inspired prototype that featured: a 69 GT 350 Shelby engine, a high performance C4 auto, and 4.11 LSDs in the front and rear. The truck has survived and was rediscovered on Flea Bay in 2016. Offsite Article & Pic Below

1970 - Parnelli Jones & Bill Stroppe win the BAJA 500 in a 1st Gen EB 'Pony'. Pony was an IFS, 2WD 1st Gen Bronco. Pic Below

1971 - Last year for the (U14) half cab model. Only 17,262 true U14 half cabs were produced over the 6 year run (66-71). In late 1971 Ford changed the front differential from a Dana 30 to the stronger Dana 44. First year for the Baja Bronco package built by legendary race builder Bill Stroppe. Pic Below

Ford is back on the BAJA 1000 winners podium. This year Parnelli Jones and Bill Stroppe win the BAJA 1000 (Ensenada-La Paz route) in the Stroppe built EB 'Big Oly' w/ a time of 14:59 Pic Below

1972 - The first year the Ranger trim package is offered. The last year for (U14) half cabs.

Also in 1972, Parnelli Jones, Bill Stroppe and Ford repeat winning the BAJA 1000 in the 1st Gen Bronco 'Big Oly' (Mexicali-La Paz route) w/ a time of 16:47 Pic Below

1973 - First model year to offer Power Steering and an Automatic Transmission (C4) as available options. The 170 ci I6 is replaced by the larger 200 ci I6 engine.

Also in 1973, Parnelli Jones & Ethan Hair win the BAJA 500 in the 'Big Oly' EB. 'Big Oly's' last race would be the following year. Pic Below

1974 - It's widely thought that the 2nd gen (78-79) was actually to be introduced this year but was held back due to the energy crisis. This would help explain the 2 yr 2nd gen run as well as the 11 yr 1st gen timeframes. The last year for the Baja Bronco Edition after about 650 units were produced.

The last year of racing for the 'Big Oly' Stroppe built 1st Gen Bronco.

1976 - Front disc brakes become standard on the 76 model and power brakes were offered as an option.

1977 - 1st Gen production ends after 11 years (66-77). 225,797 total Early Broncos were produced. (5,000 U13s, 17,262 U14s, & 203,535 U15s) The only EB to have gas doors v. gas caps.

1978 - Gen. II is introduced (78-79). First year of the FSB (Full Size Bronco) Based off a shortened 6th generation F100 chassis v. it's own independent chassis like the 1st Gen. Last year for round headlights on a Bronco, although some higher end models had square headlights w/ a mid-year production change. The 78' model holds the distinction of being the 2nd most sold year model, only behind the 79', out of all production years (66-96) w/ 77,917 units. Pic Below

1979 - Only a year later Gen. II production ends w/ 181,955 Gen. II Broncos having been built through it's two year life-cycle; this makes it the best selling generation by yearly avg. sales. The 1979 model also reigns as the most sold year model of all years (66-96) w/ 104,038 79' models sold. Last year for a solid front axle (SFA) under a Bronco. And last year for the option of having a 400M ci V8. First year emissions controls are added to a Bronco and first year for square headlights being standard (78 had both round & square) which will remain until production ends in 1996; the 6G however will herald a return to circular headlights.

1980 - Gen. III (80-86) is introduced. First year of the IFS, I beam front end. Pic Below

1981 - The Bronco Montana Lobo concept debuts at the Chicago Auto Show. Offsite Article & Pic Below

1986 - Gen. III (80-86) ends production w/ 322,429 Gen. III Broncos built by Ford.

1987 - Gen. IV (87-91) is introduced. The Centurion 4-Door is offered as dealer sold aftermarket conversion through Ford although not based on a Bronco chassis but rather a F Series pickup w/ a Bronco tailgate and hardtop. While the exact number is unknown it is estimated between 3,000 and 5,000 Centurion conversions were made. Pic Below

1988 - All Broncos now come w/ standard Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) on all engines. The Ford Bronco DM-1 concept is displayed at the Chicago Auto Show, the small, fiberglass, egg-shaped concept vehicle was based on an Escort chassis (Yikes!). Pic Below

1989 - The 1989 4th Gen model rounds out the top 3 most sold year models w/ 69,470 units putting it in 3rd place behind 79' & 78' respectively.

1990 - Ford puts the Bronco II out to pasture (84-90). Over it's 7 years of production 627,304 Bronco IIs were produced. It is speculated that the Bronco II's replacement was the Ranger based Explorer. Out of 627,394 Bronco IIs produced 530,515 were 4WD models and 96,879 were 2WD models. Was 2wd always an option? My source for #s didn't show any for 85....might add a note to 1986 - 2wd now an option for Bronco II or something.

1991 - Gen. IV (87-91) like Gen. III (80-86) ends w/ the F150 redesign after 235,451 Gen. IV Broncos were produced.

1993 - Last year for the tried and true I6, 300 CI motor. 4-Wheel anti-lock brakes become standard equipment.

1994 - 1st year for Driver Airbag. 302 models are converted to Mass Air Flow (MAF). "The Chase" O.J. Simpson leads police on a slow-speed chase around Los Angeles in a now infamous 5th Gen white Bronco.

1995 - 351 models now converted to Mass Air Flow (MAF) as well.

1996 - Gen. V (92-96) production ends after 162,703 5th Gen. Broncos were produced. Bronco nameplate retired? It is speculated that like the Bronco II was replaced by the Ranger based Explorer the FSB was replaced by the F150 based Expedition.

1997 - W/ the F150 redesign we meet the Expedition, the 4 door replacement for the Bronco . .. Bleagh

1999 - A little known concept Bronco known as the U260 was created. It rode on the T6 Ranger Platform. Rumor has it that it was created by designers w/o management approval and was eventually scrapped for various reasons. Bronco6G member @Lorenzo 's Thread & Offsite Article

2004 - THE Concept, yeah, you know which one. The silver one at the North American Auto Show. The only Bronco to have a factory diesel (2.0L intercooled turbo diesel), unless you count a F350 based Centurion conversion or 2 door Excursion conversion. Pic Below

Don’t really want to take away from the original content of going back and remembering the times of old, but I will leave you with this….

If I make a dinner reservation for next week, do i post that I waited a week for my dinner or just the time from when I ordered it? Should I count additional time for things I want they say they can’t make?
To stick with your analogy, do you count if you order your meal before the kitchen opened up? If you place a reservation a week before and ordered from the menu before the kitchen opened, are you really waiting for your meal during that time? Or does it make sense that you are only waiting for your ordered meal from the time the kitchen opened?

When I ordered 10 days after the order banks first opened 23 months ago, I expected it to take about 12 months and it took 24 months so an extra year of waiting for my MIC/Sasquatch Bronco that is less than a week old.

I got impatient in December of 21 and ordered a 2nd Bronco from the same dealer minus the MIC, Tow and Sasquatch and took delivery just 123 days later so you could say I only waited a few months than expected. I finally have one that I don’t have to share with my two daughters.

I might be the only on on this forum that’s an 8 year Telsa owner that has three large SUV’s(one of them diesel) in the garage. The Tesla has been kicked out of the house to the driveway to brave the MN winter.

You show up for your reservation. You sit down and then you order. To me you begin the clock then. Not when you called last week. You have no expectation of receiving your meal before the kitchen opened. The earliest you expect your pre-ordered meal is when you sit down. The wait begins then.

I’ll bite.

If I have a reservation for a great restaurant and when the food is laid down I would think I’ve waited 3 weeks for this bite. And savor it.

The equivalent would be if the restaurant said I know you made a reservation but we have some really “important people” (maybe a dealer owner perhaps?) who we need to serve too and we’re out of what you wanted to order anyway. We can bring you in next month.

And you walk by the window and see them serving exactly what they said they were out of.

Then when it’s finally your turn they say actually all you can order is salad we just can’t serve steak to everyone this quickly and the same big wig owners have steak sizzling on their tables. But good news! We’ll offer you $2.50 off your bill if you’ll accept your salad.

From reservation to delivery 2 year, 2 months, and 1 day.

Constraints we’re my obstacle:

4 door Badlands hard top, SAS, tow, mid, and whatever else. Built then parked for 3 months guessing in need of chips.

Sold our 4dr 2016 Wrangler with 43K miles summer of 2021 for 5K less than purchased new figuring Ford would figure out how to build and ship. Over a year later it showed up.

Not impressed with Ford’s ability to launch a new product, not sure why their board hasn’t cleaned house….

We are impressed w our Bronco, owned a 77 and an 84 so we are fans of the vehicle.
