How many miles before your 1st windshield chip/crack

I've already had to fill 2 stars using resin kits, and I'm only at 13k miles.
Of course just driving to work today I got nailed hard again. No star at least, but a decent gouge in the surface.

I hate metro Detroit.

Picked up our Raptor and had a rock chip within the first 50 miles. Was able to make it home and use a permatex kit to keep it from spreading.

2.5 months and 1204 miles. Small rock from oncoming car. Small chip. Hope it doesn't get bigger! But, my bet is it will grow. GGGGGRRRRR, damn cheap glass. Wife thought it was a pop can noise. I knew what it was right away, not very load, but I knew it was a rock hitting glass.

445 miles, two weeks to the day. Quarter size rock blasted the passenger side. Went 9,500 miles in my Rubicon with nothing.

Sure glad I bought the windshield protection from the dealer, $800 and free OEM windshield replacements. Have to wait 45 days for the first claim though!

Didn't have time to read through whole thread yet, but do those hood deflectors help cut down on the windshield rock chips? I like the glossy black one (matches better with the glossy OBX grille) over the matt black one... haven't ordered yet.

Have the hood deflector since bought, didn’t help. Or maybe I would have more chips without….. who knows

How hard/easy was it to install? With my luck I'd spend $225 on this and completely botch the install.

It went good. I was intimidated by it, but it wasn't as bad as I feared. I'd have a second person there to help hand you stuff.

I asked my tint shop about a protective film for the outside of the windshield.
They said they had heard of it, but they had never tried any of it.
I asked them because I have owned Jeeps before, and knew going in, that this Bronco was going to be pretty much the same sort of thing, with windshield being pretty much vertical.

anyone ever try that liquid you can apply to the windshield that supposedly increases the hardness of the glass and prevents cracks/chips?

~15,000 just happened last weekend, due to take it in for the windsheild glue recall next week so just paying them to put in new glass, all the labor will be covered so at least that's a win.

Add me to the list, a little over a month of ownership and a little over 3,000 miles and got hit with a rock from and oncoming car and trailer. Produced a decent chip and a couple cracks. New OEM glass on order but 15 days out.

I mounted the Aeroskin II on day 1 and am convinced it creates enough vertical air pressure, at speed, that helps deflect incoming pebbles.

Am at 16500 miles and no chip (but U heard them!)

My experience with the Aeroskin II is that it makes the wind noise worse and I still got a cracked windshield.
