How often should we use the lockers, SBD, drive modes to keep them in good shape?

I had a used Ranger and Bronco that had transfer cases locked due to lack of use. Changed the fluid and gently used the button/lever until they engaged. Then just used them regularly. I would say at least every 3 months for the transfer case.

I'm guessing maybe he means the tires will scallop, flare, etc. if you don't rotate them often enough. I do chalk tests on my tires to set tire pressure. This is especially needed when you buy oversized offroad tires that may be a different load range than the OEM tires.

It sure wouldn't hurt the electro-mechanical shifting mechanisms to operate once in a while.

The gear trains should get adequate lubrication just from normal operation.

I noticed in the "torture test" video the front driveshaft and axles are constantly rotating meaning
1. The operator was running in 4wd
2. There are no vacuum operated front hubs
or
3. It had the 4A transfer case which would allow the front to spin constantly

My question: does the Bronco have vacuum or other front hub disengagement or is it constantly engaged?

And can you add manual disconnect hubs? I don’t know why you would, but they make the look!

I've been doing five tire rotations on the jeep. You could just move the jack around and do it that way with five, but I jack mine up and put the axles on stands. Much easier than all the four tire rotations on trucks and unibody cars.

I'm hoping the IWE system is improved; my F150 in cold weather has had issues with disengagement.

Sorry, what is IWE?
Ford's Integrated Wheel End (IWE) system is what locks and unlocks the front hubs when you change back and forth from 2WD and 4WD

OK, thanks. So you've had trouble. Do you think the Bronco has it?

I've had 2 F250s with auto engagement and my son had a 2006 F150 with it no problems.

During the cold months there is a grinding sound at very low speeds (rolling to stop sign etc.) , goes away during the warmer months, goes away when 4wd is actuated. Not sure how the bronco 4wd will engage. Google IWE problems and there is a ton of info out there.

I was just about to post that. 5 wheel rearward cross is my go to the jeeps.

My F150 is always a bit hit and miss the first time I use 4 WD each winter. Sorts itself out, but I try to use it during the warmer seasons aswell.

That's a good question. I'm also a noob. When I had my Wrangler I would put it in 4L when backing into my driveway, which is on a steep decline.

I got that suggestion from a forum member who had a manual like mine, so as to not wear your clutch out. Sometime, I could get it just right balancing the clutch pedal with throttle and back right up my steep driveway. Using 4L made it really easy, and it was fun to do, I'll admit.

That's the only time I used 4WD in my Jeep, other than the occasional times I put it in 4H in heavy rain (which I was told was unnecessary and probably shouldn't be done due to wear on system).
