I think there's some other posts on this if you use the search feature, but I just started researching this myself. Primarily the windows - Use a damp cloth to wipe them off and don't use any window cleaners or anything like that. You can also buy some plastic protective stuff to put on after. Also, wipe it down in straight lines (not circles). I wiped mine down with just a damp cloth and water yesterday and it made a huge difference (I couldn't see out my back window at all it was so dirty from simple daily driving).

As for the cloth top - I think it's just soap and water, and don't use anything abrasive. I'll be using a wash mitt and/or a soft brush (for the top).

I've owned soft tops for years. I just use soap, and water. That's always done the trick for me over the years. I would suggest that if your convertible has to stay outside you may look into some "RaggTopp" protectant. Good stuff. Tops these days are made well, and with a little care will last for a long time.

I agree on the plastic windows. That's a whole nuther story. You really need to take care when cleaning those things. You're right, you must make sure there is some type of lubricant, even water, before you wipe them down. I haven't owned a convertible with plastic windows since my '65 Chebby Impala. But, that window was toast when I bought the car. :)

I find this to also be an effective way to clean windows:

I just use clean water on my tops and a soft brush if needed. Non detergent cleaners (as recommended by Haartz) only when necessary. Never an automatic car wash. I use the RaggTopp products.

Best thing to do is keep the top out of the UV, either by garaging the vehicle, or using a top cover.
