As most of you know, it only takes a light splash of mud or a bit of wax to stain your unpainted fender flares. There are a few topics on this with many different product recommendations. In this thread I just want to share one such product that works pretty well for me and hopefully might spare you from some frustrations.

The product is Scrubbing Bubbles Bathroom Cleaner and it works by penetrating the plastic and dislodging the dirt. I let it foam for a few minutes and wipe it clean with a cloth. Credit goes to my wife who felt sorry for me trying to scrub the stains off with every conceivable cleaner.

Wow. Looks great. I would be worried it would screw up the paint if I got it on them? I know I can take them off, but it would be easier with them on.

I haven't had many issues with staining yet, but that's probably because after the first wash, I treated the flares with Adam's VRT. For cleaning, I use mostly soap and water but if stained, I would use Adam's Tire and Rubber Cleaner.

The Adam's VRT gives the flares a nice sheen and also makes it easier to wipe off or remove contaminants later.

I'd be a bit concerned about the long term effects of a chemical like that, especially with exposure to sunlight. I clean mine with 303 and they still show weathering after a few years.

It's not like he's using oven cleaner . . . I also worry about such things, BTW.
