As most of you know, it only takes a light splash of mud or a bit of wax to stain your unpainted fender flares. There are a few topics on this with many different product recommendations. In this thread I just want to share one such product that works pretty well for me and hopefully might spare you from some frustrations.

The product is Scrubbing Bubbles Bathroom Cleaner and it works by penetrating the plastic and dislodging the dirt. I let it foam for a few minutes and wipe it clean with a cloth. Credit goes to my wife who felt sorry for me trying to scrub the stains off with every conceivable cleaner.

Never thought I’d need a bathroom cleaner for my vehicle cleaning supplies. That looks great! Thanks for sharing this!

I haven't had many issues with staining yet, but that's probably because after the first wash, I treated the flares with Adam's VRT. For cleaning, I use mostly soap and water but if stained, I would use Adam's Tire and Rubber Cleaner.

The Adam's VRT gives the flares a nice sheen and also makes it easier to wipe off or remove contaminants later.
Which VRT? Silica or Graphene?

Do you think it will work for bumpers and outer banks step? Mine always have mud stains from my road. So annoying.

Great tip!

Now to find a way to get rid of all the pitting from flying rocks!
Mudflaps, paved roads everywhere, or pits on the flaps...I.... I choose mudflaps. There are some very affordable and fully functional bronco mudflaps called Bro-flaps on Etsy.

Those are some great results!

Curious to see how this holds up after a week or two. Had this type of plastic on a previous vehicle and used every chemical and natural (including Peanut Butter, Not Joking) cleaning process/trick and it would always come back over time. The Peanut Butter surprisingly worked pretty decent but also attracted a lot of dogs and squirrels.

Good topic.

I’m holding off on using special products on the flares and MIC top until there’s a history of use with a car related product. Obviously that may take a few more months since the bronco is relatively new.

Until then - soap and water.

I used Spray Nine. Road salt was the culprit on my flares. Thanks for the tip, I will give it a try as well.

I'd be a bit concerned about the long term effects of a chemical like that, especially with exposure to sunlight. I clean mine with 303 and they still show weathering after a few years.
A heat gun takes care of the greying nicely.

There is certainly something up with the plastics. They didn’t play nice with Xpel ceramic. Got all white and blotchy. I let the winter do it’s thing and it’s going in for maintenance wash tomorrow. We’re going to assess from there.

As for the flares - the rocks are the issue. They’ll need to be replaced pretty regularly if you need them to look perfect all of the time.

This might be extreme - but, anyone ever mess with this stuff? Polyvance

I haven’t had any staining at all it washes off really easily. When I first got my bronco I coated the whole thing with turtlewax flex hybrid graphene spray wax. Did the body, flares, bumpers, grill and all. Haven’t had any trouble wiping down the flares or bumpers after being muddy. I’ve put two full coats on the bronco since I’ve had it in November.
