Is Carplay compatibility planned at some point? That and cost are really the only things that the Garmin has on you.

Unfortunately, Garmin is currently the only switch panel on the market compatible with CarPlay. This is because their app is classified as a navigation app, which allows it to appear within CarPlay.

The D-Switch app—and other leading switch panel apps—don’t fall under that category, so Apple doesn’t permit them on CarPlay. That said, Android Auto compatibility is in development and will be available in the near future since Android’s system allows broader app types.
