Mine doesn't work for shit, hardly charges and makes the phone unbearably hot. (android user)

For those that the charger works, what was your build date? maybe ford made a change. Mine was mid December.

There's a menu item in features to turn it off. Mine was turned off from the factory and I've never turned it on.
Can you guide us a bit? I can’t find it by clicking through…

Can’t you just flip your phone around so the front is facing the charging surface, then it won’t charge but still a good spot to store the phone.

I know I'm old and everything, but what's the big deal about having the phone plugged in an charging via the USB jack that's right there. The phone is out of the way. It charges fine. All the CarPlay functions work fine, and the USB cable doesn't take up any space. The whole wireless charging thing seemed pretty gimmicky from the start and absolutely seems to be more trouble than it's worth. I have to keep my phone in an OtterBox anyway so the wireless was never going to be an option, I just never understood it's allure.

I use a cable and put my phone on top of the steering column… perfect fit with no sliding around or anything.

With android auto running, the wireless charger can't keep up with my phone. If I go on long trips, I have plug it in or else the battery will die.

Someone needs to figure out how to upgrade the charger to something that isn't a total POS!

My wife bought me some nice thick inserts to dress up that cubby along with the cup holders. The one for the cubby effectively keeps the wireless charging from happening (combined with my phone case).
Where did she buy them ? I want to get the same. Post link

Topic - Wireless charging pads in most Ford vehicles.
I see quite a few threads for disabling unplugging the charge pads.
Removing fuses / removing panels to unplug it at the module / placing phone face down etc.
Seems some have trouble with certain phones and how hot they get or other various reasons.

My daughter just got her License and SUV a few months ago. Has an iPhone with case that stores her credit card. HAHA well Card is warped / deformed.
She had the card and a foil wrapper in the case. Lesson learned. - In her Ford that pad is about the only place to put the phone in the console.

So, I looked for options to just disable the pad. Or disable wireless charging from the phone or vehicle.

But if it had just a bit more space between the phone and pad that would keep it from charging.

A bit of thinking .... And here is the KISS Fix.

Mouse Pads / Desk-mats. These are cut really simple with some scissors.
I happen to have a bunch of these. I picked out one that has the Microfiber cloth face with Rubber back. Its 4mm or 1/16 inch thick.
Some newer pads are thinner and may need to be stacked to 4mm.

Once it was trimmed and dropped in place on the charging pad problem solved. Neither the iPhone nor the Samsung activated the charge pad.
Easy enough to pop out and use charging / or drop in pad and bypass the charging.

Well, it was a fun problem and just thought I would share my Dumb Idea.

Think I have only used the charge pad in my truck 3 times. I prefer my mount and Cable so I can still access My Camper and Camera Apps when needed.
