Does anyone know if you can just take off the rear most part of the top, and keep the front sections in place?

Also it sounds like you can order both a hard top and a soft top. Is it possible to have both on at the same time (do you need to remove the soft top if you want the hard top on). Just trying to figure out how much storage space I'll need.

You can’t have both tops on at the same time. Hard or soft. No clue about removing just rear roof section

Dual top is just that. Two tops. You use one or the other. As far as keeping the panels in place with the rear section off that remains to be seen. It depends on how they actually attach. With the Wrangler they latch in the front and screw in to the crossbar. With the fact that there is no crossbar they probably attach at the sides somewhere. So it's feasible that they could stay on with the rear off.

Personally if I was just looking for shade I'd throw a bikini top or sunshade on. Still get the air without the sun beating down on you.
