Hello guys and gals! I’m looking at buying a wildtrak and wanted to know how well the paint corrects on the bronco. I unfortunately I haven’t had any come through out shop so I haven’t been able to test it on my own.

paint “corrects”. Not sure I understand what you mean by the term “corrects”. Can you explain?

Man it’s to early for me to be posting 😂
Paint correction is taking out defects in a cars paint. Say you went through a non contactless car wash. You more than likely will have scratches and swirls and maybe holograms. What I’m asking is how easy is it to correct, or get those defects out. I’ll attach some before and after shots of a car I corrected a few weeks back. (The after pictures were taken outside of the shop)((also watch the video first for a better understanding of paint defects))

Yeah I meant paint correction, didn’t catch that before I posted
oops. That didn’t help much. What, exactly is a paint “correction“? No offense intended, I just don’t understand what you are talking about. Can you explain your terms, and how we as customers are affected?

thx.

*I did edit my post a bit more so refer to that at any time*
It’s more of a cosmetic thing than anything. What I do it correct and restore paint on cars. The whole principle is to take something that is dull and has defects and make the paint look new.

Has your shop done a new ford ranger? They’re built/painted in the same facility so it would be the same as that. Mine cleaned up nicely but I did find some dirt/fish eyes under the paint.

Didnt someone scratch the heck out of it in the first picture?
Yup, that’s the dealership. That’s is the before picture before I corrected it

Had my Bronco completely detailed and ceramic coated. They were able to cut and buff the paint just fine. I assume some descent coverage and thickness.

Well there you go! That person has no business ever touching a car again.

Unfortunately nothing has rolled through our shop. I want one to come through so I correct it myself before I get my bronco

That’s dealership level craftsmanship. Funny enough the GM of that dealership understands that and ships several to us before it goes through their recon dept.

99.9% bet Ford uses PPG OEM paint. I'm sure you've probably worked on PPG paint in the past.
I’ve dealt with it but new models are weird. I’ve corrected Honda accords before but mine in particular is the first year of the new gen so my paint was abnormally soft compared to other accords.

My father in law has owned an auto body shop for over 35 years, he just repaired an HPR Ranger. He said it’s easy enough for anyone with a good eye and decent paint system. The only thing he said is that the HPR doesn’t touch up well with a small amount of paint (ie touch up pen, brush in bottle) due to it being essentially impossible to get the proper ratio of the tinting agent on a scale that small. It is indeed PPG as someone mentioned.

Thanks for the info! Yeah we have to tell our touch up account that not ever paint is going to match 100% because it’s so difficult to match OEM paint
