(Hypothetically) reservations cause orders to roll into 2022 model year. Would we be able to update our color if new ones added?

Pretty much what the title asks. Say Ford adds a truer green or other wanted color in year two. Reservations converted to orders were more than enough to fill capacity for the 2021 model year and at some point they flipped to filling them with 2022s. I don't mind getting a 2022 personally but if a color I much preferred was added I'd love at least the option to switch.

Typically, after you order, changes can be made up until a VIN is assigned to the order, which means it is getting put in the production que and will be built "soon". Usually an approximate production date is forecast at that point.
After the Vin is issued, it is pretty much set in stone.

Cancel the original and start over with a new reservation and wait time.

I’ve wondered this about options that might not be available in MY21 but become options in MY22. As an example, after all the feedback MGV becomes available on all trims and people are no longer pigeon holed into BD.

I posted a similar thread earlier but they merged it with some dumb memory seats thread.
I'm strongly considering waiting until MY22 and waiting for the dust to settle. I'm considering buying my own place, so it'd be a nice breather to hold off on MY21 and just wait 1 more year if not less.
