The IAG are held in place by what looks like a cup point set screw on the back side.
or is it a flat point ???
To me it looks like it would dig into the finish of the rock rail.
""Hello Rust spots my old friend... ""

I'd be happy to be wrong,
It is for this reason I went with the AR stirrups design.....but paid dearly for them.

If you watch the installation video, you can actually see where they have installed them prior, and you can see the marks on the rails. You could probably get a set of rubber caps to toss on the edge of the screws.

Agree!! I am loving mine!
I think IAG said the black screws would have increased the price a bit so they went with silver. Maybe they should offer them as an upcharge.

At the price black screws should have been included!

PLeas do not inturrprit this as an endorsement for AR nor a dig at IAG.....just pointing out functional differences

This is the mounting method of the AR stirrups

Yes...the AR design warrants these screws to "tighten" the lower clamp to the top clamp. On the other hand, the IAG design is entire steel custom fit to the rock rail....again, the bolt only serves as a minor screw for placement...kinda like screwing the various screws on a christmas tree stand to keep the tree upright....

Once you engage the the setscrew and tighten the jamb nut, the set screw tends to follow and dig in a bit as evidenced but their own video and can lead to bare metal exposure:
I'm not 100% sure this is what happened in their video but it appears to be a set screw marks as mentioned above.

Like skid plates, the rails are intended to be sacrificial while protecting the vehicle. Even if not used off-road I would expect them to take a beating from road debris. I feel the impact of the fastener would not come close to the other expected damage to the rails from just driving the vehicle. If there is still an indentation and rust concern from the screw fasteners, not visible unless under the vehicle, adding a pad to even the load could help. Eventually though that may trap moisture and salts causing corrosion.
The steps are designed for easy removal to use the rock rails as intended off-road.

Exactly. IMO IAG designed a solid step with all steel construction to support load…I am sure AG steps are well made too…..The comment re the screw on the IAG causing a rust issue is I not very plausible or a big deal.. I rather have the all steel construction clamp design of the IAG design

For my expectations, the IAG look to be a quicker removal and re-install as needed. Both AG & IAG are nice solutions keeping the factory rails. I am looking at the IAG full length step for my yet to be built Bronco.

I love mine! Will be switching to black screws.

Also, if you think the set screws are going to destroy your rock rails, you don‘t need rock rails. Or have ever looked under a car. But yes, they will leave a mark.
