Ok, crazy ass update here…. Based on @BadBradBronco comments (thank you!!) I got busy yesterday calling dealerships and looking for the part. i found the last three in California. Apparently, dealerships don’t always play nice with each other for parts, especially in these dog eat dog days. I drive two hours this morning. Bought the part at retail and drove it to the service dealership. At first they scoffed “that‘s not how it’s done. We can’t put that in”. I, admittedly, got a lil heated (never a good idea…. I own that). I apologized. They disappeared and made some calls, and have worked it out. They now have everything and will put my car back together. 5 weeks since purchase. Drove for one day. I cannot tell you how much I am looking forward to getting this back. If I had not pulled off this hack (loophole?), I would have been at least 7 weeks without my bronco. Talk about lemon territory!! What a saga. I hope this chapter ends soon

Dude! That’s awesome. I’ve had zero issues since getting mine fixed if that helps. I’m glad I could help.

$750 plus $250 core charge. They just refunded all to me (dealer purchased it directly from other dealer under warranty price)

Back from the dead! Dealer called me today to inform me all parts have arrived for the turbo replacement, so it goes in on Tuesday for the operation. That'll put it just under the two month mark for waiting.

...aaand we're finished. Had the Bronco back less than a day after I dropped it off.
Not sure it drives a whole lot differently but knock on wood, the wastegate rattle I was getting on cold start appears to be resolved.

Fingers crossed this one lasts...and hoping Mountune/ Turbonetics/ someone offers a drop-in improved replacement further down the road...

I read stuff like this post and I wonder what next?? This has been a chit show from day one. It's almost not even believable at this point, yet it's true. The good news for us is that Farley is all in on the EV market and no dealer inventory/ordering direct because he wants to be Tesla. Oh boy.......

This can’t be true! I’ve been told numerous times by some on here that sitting in a dirt/snowy/icy field in weather extremes has nothing to do with 2.3 turbo failures. Yet here are some more with failed turbos after sitting on the mountain. But I’m sure it’s just coincidence- it’s just a bad batch of turbos like the bad batch of 2.7 valves right?????
Honestly- who knows, but it can’t be pure coincidence that numerous turbos have failed after sitting a long time on that mountain!

I'm sharing the below story to help get an idea of timeline for how long I may have to wait on a new turbo for my 2.3L Bronco.

On Friday my wife and I went and picked up our 2.3L Non-Sas OBX that we reserved on 7/15/20. We are part of the 1/24 build week and had a 1/28 blend date. We were in production since 2/1 and sat on ice mountain for around 3 months. Everything went smoothly at the dealership and after a visual and quick mechanical inspection we finalized the purchase and it couldn't have gone smoother. Our dealership and salesperson were outstanding and made everything super easy. We left the dealership and less than 5 miles away before we even got above 50 mph the Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power warning light came on. I immediately called my sales person and he advised me to bring it back immediately. We pulled off the highway and made a u turn. As we were driving up the on ramp my wife commented it didn't seem to have any power and was struggling up the on ramp. We kept it under 45mph and limped back to the dealer. They immediately put it into service and ran diagnostics which revealed it has a bad turbo and it has to be replaced. The part is backordered and there is no timeline at this point. They put us in a loaner and sent us home with nothing but our paperwork and one key. This has to be one of the most frustrating things I've ever been a part of and after waiting 646 days to get a Bronco we drove for less than 5 miles before a major malfunction.

I know this has been brought up before, but I'm asking anyone else that has experienced this to share how long it took to get the part. Also, did this fix the problem and have you had any other issues since? Has anyone else from Ice Mountain around the same build date had this issue?
Just happened to me. Owned bronco 4 days. How long was the wait for replacement?? I’m terrified

Call Ford CS and insist they escalate your concern and assign you a Customer Experience Specialist. They will help your dealer obtain the necessary parts. Then find out what those parts are and start calling every dealer in the area to ask if they have them. I was able to get the parts in about 2 weeks, thankfully. Also, the Ford customer service specialist gave me a 3 year maintenance plan at no-charge to cover oil changes and tire rotations as well.
