The Icon Coilover thread seems to have cooled down and I can't seem to find an answer to two of my questions.

Question 1- Has anyone found a solution to running external rear resivors and adding aftermarket rock sliders. I've got a beautiful set of White Kunckle sliders that I can't install due to the location Icon puts their resivors.

Question 2- I've never had rear coilovers that were mounted upside down like Icon mounts the rear coilovers on our Bronco's. According to the instructions you should be measuring the distance between the bottom of the top cap and the top of the adjuster nut. Now since the coil is upside down should I be using the same measurement locations as if the coil was installed right side up? I'm going to post a pic as to where I think I should be measuring them from.

On your Question #2, you are correct. Most of our direct-fit coilovers mount shaft-up so I'm guessing the instructions writer just carried that over without editing it.

I'm no help on Question #1, as some aftermarket sliders that mount to the frame do want to occupy the same space. But I suspect it can be done with some fabrication.

So I just got an Email back from Icon. I asked them the same question. There response to the resivor mount was to either have the coilovers rebuilt with a longer hose or fabricate a bracket to move the resivor away from the slider. Both of these options I feel should have been available from Icon when spending almost $7K for the kit I got. I mean they must have seen there was going to be an issue if anyone wanted to add sliders. I'm not getting the coils rebuilt so I guess I'll have to build a mount myself with my next to zero fabrication skills and 0 welding ability.

JMO, but ICON is a suspension company. They don’t need to worry about anything other than suspension, which they do very well.

Post a pic of these sliders. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why they would interfere with the resi mount?

Post a pic of your resi mounts too please.

The resivor and mount sits up against the frame where the third mount on the sliders I have would have attached. Doing a bit of research I found out I'm not the only one complaining about the issue. I understand they're a suspension company but they seem to be the only one who mout their resivors the way they do and as an aftermarket company they should absolutely take into account other aftermarket parts that their product may conflict with. At bare minimum they should offer an extended hose option for people who want to run sliders. That would allow the resivor to be mouted forward more past the slider mount.

I posted a pic of the resivor installed onto my Bronco. I don't have pics of the sliders installed since they can't be installed but it doesn't take much to understand what the problem is especially if you've ever seen or installed frame mounted sliders. The sliders have 3 mounts that sit against the frame of the Bronco. Plates are then slid up on the opposite side of the frame and sandwiched together using huge long bolts. The resivor at the rear is mouted in the location where the slider has to be attached.

To me, the shock resi looks like it was mounted wrong? I don’t know if it would give you the extra room or not though? Here’s a pic of my set up

Looks like you have the electronic adjustable resivors? If so it's different. Regardless you still wouldn't be able to mount frame mounted sliders on your Bronco either. The issue is the resivors occupy the space needed for the sliders mounts.

These things are cheap and basically give you the option to mount the reservoirs wherever you would like.

These are good options to mount reservoirs mostly "wherever" you want.

Get a local Napa or shop that deals with hydraulic hoses to make new hoses for the length you need then just "soft rebuild" them to readd pressure and fluid. Having armor interfere with suspension is not uncommon in the industry, very common that skid plates and rock sliders cause interference with shock/reservoir mounts and control arm articulation (as most armor companies model with vehicles using OEM components for suspension)

Thanks all for the help. Unfortunately I don't own a welder nor do I know how to weld. I've got a few ideas in my head that I'm going to try tomorrow on my day off. I might just try and modify the existing mounts, switch sides and turn them around. Doing this will in my head push the resivors further back giving me the room I need.
