An idea on my drive to work today. A plug for the front defrost vents that aim at the front windows.

Since apparently there is no way to disable these, they blast hot air at my eyes while driving in cold weather. Would be nice to stop that and redirect air to the floor.

So I'm confused. Are you're saying that you can't turn off defrost, and because of that, the air blown at the windshield is bouncing off and blowing in your eyes?

I can definitely turn off defrost. But maybe it's a difference between the dual zone climate system in Mid package and up, and the standard package.

No, Bryan, Brian is saying that when you select floor only on the main HVAC controls, the side vents that blow on the SIDE windows (not the windshield) still have significant flow, taking away heat from the floor.

Brian, a workaround is to select both floor and dash vents on the control panel, and then use the rotary flow controls on each dash vent to turn them off. Your tootsies will warm faster. :)

I agree with this 100%

Was thinking about it myself just yesterday in fact, since I’m back to “holy cow my head is burning up but my feet are freezing” weather.

And this conversation needs more Brians

I was wondering why having floor and dash vents selected was so weak, even with half the dash vents closed.

I don't believe that turns off my defrost vents, but I will go confirm.

Ohhhhhhh, thank you.

And today was the day I learned there was side vents. Now I feel dumb.

You're correct, when set to face and floor, the defrost are inactive. Set to just floor, defrost are active.

It's not all the defrost though

If you set to just Floor - it's the floor vents (including the under-seat vent), and the A-pillar vents. The ones along the windshield won't get air - just the A-pillar ones. And it seems the get ~most~ of the air. In my case, like, almost all of it.

But if you do Front Vents + Floor, the A-pillar vent gets disabled, and the front vents have a open/close control on them - so that helps. It's loud and still seems like most of the air isn't getting through for as much noise as the blower makes, but it's something.

Yeah I only care about stopping the a pillar vent. Whoever thought that should be on with the floor vents is an asshole.
